Integrators Own the OS

Mark C. Winterts tells business integrators they must own and cascade their company's operating system, the complete set of vision, processes, and ways of working. He recommends picking one OS like EOS instead of mixing frameworks, and distributing the book What the Heck is EOS? to embed it throughout the organization.

Hi everybody, it's Mark C. Winterts, and today I'm talking to you integrators. And I'd like to start off by reading you a passage from the integrator job description right out of the book Rocket Fuel. Okay, so here's what it says.5 on this job description we put together says the integrator ensures that everyone is truly following and adhering to the company's core processes and operating system with consistency. So, operating system, here's the key point. The integrator owns the operating system for the company. So what is an operating system? An operating system is basically how you run your business. It's everything from your vision to your processes, even your language. It's how you talk together, how you work together. It's how you run your business. Now, a key thing around operating system is you need to pick one. You can't pick four or five different operating systems and take a little bit from this one, a little bit from that one, and sort of mix and match and piece together what you want to do. You need to pick one operating system, and there are a number of good ones out there. But pick one operating system and commit to mastering that one. That's what will make you truly great. If you mix and match, you're just going to introduce tons of complexity because the word that means a certain thing in this system is going to mean a completely different thing in another system. And people just get confused. So pick one operating system, commit to it, commit to mastering it. Now I may be a little biased, but obviously I think EOS is a great operating system. So just know that going in. So as, as the owner of the operating system integrators, you need to drive it through your organization. So you need to be cascading that operating system through the organization as you begin to master it and you get comfortable and you get ready, you need to teach it to the next level, the organization, and they need to teach it to the next level. And, and you just begin to drive this operating system throughout the entire organization. So two references from EOS that we'll use are shared by all. So we want everyone in the organization to share the view of the operating system and the vision that it embraces and followed by all so that people are truly adhering to it. They're executing and operating in alignment with the operating system that you have. So when you think about driving this operating system down through the whole organization, it, it takes time, it takes work, it takes energy. So today, if your operating system happens to be EOs, I have a great new tool that's going to help you drive it through the rest of your organization. And here it is. It's a new book. The title of the book is what the Heck is eos? And this book was written by my good friend and co author, Geno Wickman and my other good friend Tom Bauer, who's also a fellow EOS implementer. So these guys are both great. They know EOS inside and outside. And I got to tell you that this is the very best work I've ever seen put together to really simplify and explain EOS to the employees in your company. Okay, you got to have your folks read this. It's so simple. It lays out the what and the why and that leads right into the how. So it's easy for an employee to digest and kind of get their head around and begin to see how they fit into this bigger picture and of how you want the operating system to work in your company. So my passionate plea to you is go get this book and have your folks read it. It's going to make your job way easier and ultimately it's going to make your organization way more effective as you really effectively embrace that operating system and begin to drive your company forward where you want it to go. All right, so three key things to wrap this one up today. Number one, the integrator owns the operating system. Number two, owning means cascading, which means shared by all and followed by all. So you got to drive it to there. And number three, today is I want you to pre order or order this book. Thanks for watching.
