171: Small steps, big manifestations
27 Jan 2025 · 33 min
In this episode of the Canny Crystals podcast, host Mart Tweedy shares a comprehensive framework for personal transformation and manifestation. He begins by promoting his upcoming book Limitless: Elevate Your Existence, Manifest Your Dreams and encouraging listeners to join the priority‑list for launch bonuses. The core of the episode is a step‑by‑step guide that emphasizes the power of tiny, consistent actions over grand, sudden changes. Tweedy outlines practical habits such as daily gratitude, short meditation, journaling, planning the day the night before, and establishing a personalized morning ritual. He explains how these micro‑behaviours build momentum, confidence, and a vibration that aligns with desired outcomes. The 80/20 (Pareto) principle is introduced as a way to focus energy on the most impactful actions, while letting go of low‑value tasks. Tweedy stresses the importance of celebrating small wins, cultivating patience and trust, releasing attachment to specific outcomes, and surrounding oneself with supportive community. Throughout, he weaves in motivational anecdotes, references to popular self‑help books (e.g., The 5 AM Club, Miracle Morning), and promotional spots for TED Talks Daily and The Guardian Football Weekly. The episode concludes with a call to action to subscribe, leave reviews, and follow his Instagram @cannycrystals.

I would really, really appreciate it more than you would ever know, and I would love to get a number one bestseller on Amazon. Anyway, today's episode, I'm going to talk you through my top tips to transform your life, because so often I get messages from people just asking, you know, I'm feeling really down, or I'm feeling really depressed, or I'm feeling really lost with life, what can I do? And, you know, I usually go back to them and I'm like, well, have you started with gratitude? Because I would always start there. Um, do you meditate? Do you work with crystals? Do you listen to subliminals? And honestly, there are so, so many different ways that we can do this. But I think when it comes to transforming your life and manifesting what you actually want in life, a lot of people might think that you need some grand sweep and change because we often hear stories about people making these monumental decisions or having like huge dramatic breakthroughs that just alter their paths overnight. But the truth is that real lasting transformation comes from those small consistent steps that you take every single day. So it's not about an immediate jump or leap into success. It's more about that steady climb to where you want to be. Um, what is that Miley Cyrus song? It's called The Climb, actually, isn't it? Yeah, duh. Um, Miley Cyrus said, it no matter how fast I get there, ain't about what's written on the other side, it's the climb. And you know, this is so, so true because it is about that steady climb. And manifestation is no different. When we visualize that end goal and we feel aligned with our desires, That's crucial. That true magic is going to happen when you back that energy up with consistent actions, no matter how small they seem in the moment. And manifestation works on the principle of aligning your energy with what you desire. Visualization and belief are foundational, but action is the bridge between that inner world and the reality that you're creating. So taking action doesn't mean that you need to overhaul your entire life in one day or even take on massive overwhelming changes. Instead, it's about taking those aligned intentional steps every single day, even when they might seem insignificant to you as well. Like, think about it, when you break down your biggest goals into manageable steps, they suddenly start to feel achievable. So instead of getting overwhelmed by the size of your dreams, you're focusing on what you can do right now to just bring them closer to you. So small steps might look like, you know, journaling about your desires for 5 minutes on a morning, spending 5 minutes meditating to quiet your mind and raise your vibration. It might be making one phone call or sending one email that just supports your goals. It could even just be practicing gratitude just to align your energy with abundance. Now, each of those actions, they might seem quite small, but together they are going to create a momentum. And momentum is the key in manifestation because the universe responds to energy in motion. So when you take even the smallest steps towards your desires, you're showing the universe that you are serious about your intentions. So imagine that you are trying to push this huge boulder up a hill, this huge stone, okay? At first it might feel impossible to move, but as you keep pushing, it'll start to get a little easier, and eventually that momentum takes over and it'll start and get a bit easier and easier once you've got the ball rolling. So small steps are that push that you need to get that boulder moving, but once it's in motion you'll find that the opportunities and the synchronicities begin to show up more easily. And that is the power of combining consistent action with aligned energy. Now, one of the greatest benefits of starting small is that it just builds your confidence, and it really helps to reinforce your belief that change is possible. Because every small victory or every small win that you have in your life, whether it's completing a meditation session sticking to your gratitude practice, taking tiny steps towards your big goal— that's all going to strengthen your manifestation muscle. And over time, these small actions become habits, and your habits shape your reality. Now, back in October, November, I realized that I wasn't doing my gratitude lists on a daily basis again. So in— at the start of January this year, Francesca Amber from Law of Attraction Changed My Life— I'm in her self-development boot club and, um, we started doing the magic. Now, the amount of times that I have actually done the magic, and I've always got to maybe, you know, the second weekend and I forgot a day, so I've had to go back 3 days— it's a real asshole of a process. But this time I've actually stuck to it, and I've celebrated those wins every single day, and I've like give myself a pat on the back because I'm saying to myself, I am sticking to my gratitude practice. So it's just a very tiny win for me, but Right now, as I record this, we're on day 24, and I've done this for 24 days consecutively. Now it's starting to become more of a habit. That habit is going to shape my reality. So manifestation isn't just about thinking positively, it's more about becoming an energetic match for what you desire. So when you take those small intentional steps, you're actually sending a clear signal to the universe. Basically, you're saying, I'm ready to receive. And every step that you take just reinforces your belief that your goal is achievable and you're worthy of it. For example, let's say you are manifesting financial abundance. So sitting and visualizing a healthy bank balance, yeah, that's powerful. But pairing that with consistent action like budgeting, learning about investments, seeking new income opportunities, that's all going to make your vibration even stronger because every step shifts your energy from lack to abundance because you're actively participating in your manifestation journey. So those small steps are going to help you overcome resistance because Big changes can really feel overwhelming, and they can really trigger doubts or fears in your life as well. But when you break your goals down into smaller actions, you're more likely to follow through with them instead. It's like at the start of The Magic, they say that you are going to write down 10 things that you are grateful for every day. Now, if I told you to go away with a journal and write down 280 things to be grateful for, you might get to like 20 or 30, and then you'd really start to struggle. But because this is breaking it down into 10 every single day, it's more manageable. You can find things to be grateful for. So instead of feeling paralyzed by the enormity of your dreams, you're actually taking those manageable steps that feel achievable and empowering. So one of the biggest blocks to manifestation is that pursuit of perfection as well, because I think too often we think that if we can't do something perfectly, we shouldn't be doing it at all. But the truth is that progress will always outweigh perfection, because life isn't about just getting it right 100% of the time. Time. It's more about showing up for yourself consistently, even when things aren't perfect. So let's say that you have a bad day at work and you take a step back. Maybe you missed your morning meditation, you didn't stick to your plan. It's okay. My partner Johnny kicks himself all the time when he sleeps in and doesn't go to the gym, for example, and it really affects the rest of his day. And I'm like, but why should it matter? Just step back. What matters is that you pick yourself up and you keep on going. If you take 30 steps forward in a month and you take 7 steps back during a rough patch, you're still technically 23 steps ahead of where you started. So every small step adds up, even when it feels like you're moving at a snail's pace, because you're ultimately still moving forward. So let's say your goal is to write a book, okay? The idea of completing an entire manuscript might feel overwhelming, but when you break it down into small manageable steps, that can make it feel achievable. So you could do what I did, and I set a goal to write 200 words a day. So in a month, that was 6,000 words. In 6 months, you've written 36,000 words. In 10 months, you've written an entire book, okay? So you've completed your first draft, and that's exactly how I did it. I was writing between 200 and 500 words a day. It was taking me maybe half an hour to an hour a day. And you know what? If I was told that I had to write a book in a month or something, I would be crippled and paralyzed by the fear, by all the doubt, But because I was seeing those incremental wins, I was like, okay, there's the first chapter done, there's the second chapter done, there's the third chapter done. It gave me a bit of momentum and it gave me a bit of strength to carry on and continue what I was actually doing. And this approach works because it just shifts your focus from the intimidating big picture to the smaller actions that you can take right now. And I'm not saying go ahead and, you know, write a book unless you obviously want to, but you can incorporate this into pretty much anything that you do in your day-to-day life. So each day, as you hit those little goals, you build momentum, you strengthen your confidence, and ultimately align your energy with the reality of being what you want to be. In my case, an author. The beauty of small steps is that they're accessible to everyone, no matter where you are in your journey. You don't need to wait for the perfect moment or have everything figured out before you start. All you need to do is take one step forward, and then another, and then another. And every time that you take that aligned action, no matter how small it is, you're creating the life that you want. You are sending that powerful message to the universe that you believe in your dreams and you're willing to do the work to bring them into reality. So I'll just say to start small, stay consistent, and just trust that every step that you take is bringing you closer to the life that you deserve. Now, one of the most simplest yet probably most effective habits that you can adopt for transformation and manifestation is planning your day the night before. I've probably talked about this before, and it might sound quite trivial, But this small act, it just holds immense power in shaping your reality. Because when you take the time to organize your thoughts and your intentions before you go to bed, you're setting yourself up for success. And this practice just sends a message to the universe that you're intentional about your time, and also that you're intentional about your goals and your priorities in life. So it's like you kind of drawn a roadmap for your day ahead. You're ensuring that you stay aligned with your purpose instead of getting swept away by distractions throughout the day. And planning your day the night before is— it's so much more than just jotting down a to-do list. It's more about consciously aligning your actions with your desires. So I want you to think of it as a moment of co-creation with the universe. By deciding what you want to focus on the following day, you're taking an active role in directing your energy towards your manifestations. And that habit not only boosts your productivity but it also strengthens your belief in your ability to create the life that you want. Because, you know, manifestation thrives on clarity and intention, and planning just provides both of those. So when you wake up with a plan in place, you start your day with purpose and momentum. So instead of feeling scattered or unsure of where to begin, you know exactly what steps that you're going to take for the rest of that day. And that clarity helps you to stay in alignment with your goals and it reduces the chances of falling into procrastination or overwhelm. Just imagine starting your day with a clear sense of direction, like knowing that every single action that you take is bringing you closer to your dreams. That is the power of planning the night before. And I think I first come across this when I was reading— it was either one of the books, um, The 5 AM Club or Miracle Morning. I can't remember which one. They might both talk about it, but it's a very, very simple concept to follow. And another benefit of planning your day the night before is that it helps you to identify your priorities, because often we get caught up in the busyness of life and we end up spending our time on, you know, little tiny tasks that don't actually matter and they're not going to add any value to our life. So when we're able to review our goals and our commitments ahead of time, we can then focus on the tasks that align most with our long-term vision. And that practice just ensures that your energy is directed towards what matters most. Rather than just being wasted on distractions or unimportant activities. And that habit also supports your manifestation journey as well by keeping your energy aligned with your desires. Because when you plan your day ahead with intention, you're not just reacting to life's demands, you're proactively shaping your reality. And that creates a powerful vibrational alignment that attracts opportunities, resources, and all those little synchronicities that are going to support your goals. So it's kind of a way of showing the universe that you're serious about your intentions and you're willing to take that consistent action to bring them to life. So something that I like to do for planning me day ahead is just to include a mix of short-term tasks and long-term goals, because it's important to handle immediate responsibilities, but I don't want to forget to schedule time for actions that move me closer towards my bigger dreams as well. For example, if you are trying to manifest a new career, for example, a new job include tasks like updating your CV or reaching out to a mentor, because those small actions, when done consistently, they're going to build momentum. They're going to signal to the universe that you're ready to step into that new reality. So planning your day ahead just helps you to cultivate a sense of gratitude and mindfulness as well. And as you review your schedule, just take a moment to appreciate the opportunities that you have to create that fulfilling life for yourself. Gratitude raises your vibrations. It attracts more positive experiences into your life. You can even incorporate a gratitude practice into your planning routine just by writing down 3 things that you're thankful for as you map your day out. Yeah, just incorporate that habit into your routine. It doesn't have to be complicated. Just set aside a few minutes every evening to reflect on your goals and, you know, review your commitments, decide how you want to spend your time. You can do this on a night when you go to bed. You can do it just before you jump in the bath or jump in the shower. You know, you could even do it while you're brushing your teeth if you really wanted to. You can use a planner, you can use a notepad, you can use a journal, even just like the Notes app on your phone. It's totally up to you. Just jot down your priorities for the day ahead. The key is just to make this practice a consistent part of your routine. So whatever works best for you, that's how you're going to be able to commit to it. And over time, you'll notice how that small habit just creates a ripple effect of positivity and productivity in your daily life. But the way that you start your day, it often sets the tone for how it unfolds. So when you plan your day ahead the night before, you're just giving yourself that gift of clarity, focus, and intention. And that simple habit not only enhances your productivity, but it also strengthens your connection to the universe. It's like a little reminder that you are the creator of your reality, and every small action that you take brings you closer to your dreams. So tonight, just take a few moments to plan your tomorrow, because honestly, you will wake up with a sense of purpose and alignment, ready to take on that day with confidence and joy. And then on the flip side of that, a morning ritual is one of the most transformative tools that I've used to set the tone for my day ahead and just align my energy with my manifestations. If you're one of those people like me that would just wake up and you're quite chaotic, or you're quite rushed, you know, you're trying to get kids ready for nursery you're trying to feed animals, that kind of thing. Unlike having that, if you have a deliberate morning routine, it allows you just to take control of your energy and just ensure that you're stepping into the day with intention, positivity, and purpose. So just by dedicating a couple of minutes to practices that uplift and inspire you, you're actually setting the foundation for a day filled with productivity and joy and alignment. So when you first wake up I used to just grab me phone straight away, but that is the point of the morning where your mind is in a unique state of receptivity. It's a powerful time to nurture your mindset and focus on your goals. So your morning ritual, it can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose, but what matters most is that it's intentional and it's tailored to your needs. Now, for some people, it might involve meditation or journaling. I haven't got time for that personally, So for me, it could just include a little bit of movement, some affirmations while I'm brushing my teeth, some quiet reflection in the shower, listening to a subliminal as I'm getting myself dressed. You know, a morning ritual is— it's, it's entirely personal. It can evolve as you do. And just by starting your day with a morning ritual, it just sends a strong message out to the universe. It communicates that you value yourself and you value your time. You're committed to showing up as your best self. So that, that's kind of an act of self-care, and that intentionality not only raises your vibration, but it also sets a positive tone for the rest of the day as well. So when you approach your morning with purpose, you're more likely to carry that energy into every other task that you do throughout the day. And one of the most significant benefits of a morning ritual is that it creates a bit of a buffer between you and the demands of the outside world. So instead of immediately diving into emails or social media or other distractions, you're actually just giving yourself the space to focus on what truly matters. And that time is an opportunity to connect with your inner self, or to set your intentions, or even just align your energy with your goals. So it's a chance for you to create a sense of calm and clarity before the busyness of the day actually takes over. Consistency is always key when it comes to building a morning ritual. It is tempting to try and incorporate, you know, every beneficial practice all at once, you know, subliminals, affirmations, tapping, crystal healing, meditation, journaling. It's all too much, okay? It's more effective to just start small and gradually build from there. You might begin by just dedicating 5 minutes to a simple gratitude practice. You know, have your notepad on your bedside table. When you wake up in the morning, just grab it and just start journaling down why you're grateful. Why are you grateful to wake up today? And over time, you can expand your routine to include other practices that resonate with you. So like I say, I listen to subliminals while I get ready. I sometimes do affirmations or tapping while I'm brushing my teeth or in the shower. You know, the goal isn't to overwhelm yourself, but it's just to create a sustainable habit. And that sustainable habit is going to enhance your well-being and support your manifestation journey, but it also helps you to build momentum for the day ahead as well. Because when you start with a series of intentional actions, you're more likely to stay focused and productive throughout the day. And that sense of accomplishment, even in very, very small ways, that's going to have a ripple effect as well. It's going to boost your confidence and motivation to tackle those bigger tasks. And when we prioritize our own needs and goals in the morning, you're just reminding yourself that you are in control of your time and your energy. And as you commit to your morning ritual, you'll start to notice a little shift in your energy and outlook. So you might find that you approach your day with greater ease and confidence, and that you're more attuned to the opportunities and synchronicities that support your manifestations. By dedicating time every morning just to align with your higher self, you're creating a powerful foundation for success and abundance. So tomorrow morning, just take a few moments to focus on yourself and your goals, because you deserve to start your day with intention and joy, and a morning ritual is just the perfect way to make that happen. And then as you move throughout the day, just think about this, because not all actions are created equal. Like, some tasks, some decisions, some efforts, they produce significantly more results than others as well. So this is the essence of the 80/20 rule. I don't know if I've mentioned this before. It's also known as the— what's it called— the Pareto principle. Am I saying that right? I hope so. And it states that 80% of your results come from 20% of your actions and effort. So when you understand and apply that principle, you'll discover that success isn't about doing everything, it's just about doing the right things. So the 80/20 rule is particularly powerful when it comes to manifestation because it aligns so perfectly with the concept of focused energy. Manifestation works by channeling your energy and your thoughts and your actions towards your desires. But if your energy is scattered across too many tasks or spread thinly over non-essential activities, you'll start to dilute your power and you'll start to slow your progress. So what we need to do is we need to identify that 20% of actions that, that are going to basically yield the majority of results. And you can start to maximize your manifestation efforts and achieve your goals with greater ease and efficiency. So to apply the 80/20 rule to manifestation, just start by evaluating your daily habits and activities. I want you to take an honest look at how you spend your time and just ask yourself, which actions are truly moving me closer to my desires? So you might find that some tasks like practicing gratitude, visualizing your goals, taking small aligned actions, they're all going to create a significant shift in your energy and momentum. But on the flip side, you know, other activities like excessive social media scrolling, overthinking, they're going to drain your energy without actually contributing towards your progress. So recognizing that distinction is the first step in aligning with that 80/20 principle. So just imagine that you're working towards a goal of financial abundance. Instead of trying to tackle every single possible avenue to make more money, The 80/20 rule just encourages you to focus on the most impactful actions. For example, if you've noticed that networking with potential clients or refining your skills brings in the most of your income, prioritize those activities over less impactful ones like perfecting your website or endlessly tweaking your business cards. When you concentrate your energy on what truly matters, you're not only increasing your results, but you're also demonstrating to the universe that you're serious about achieving your goals. So the 80/20 rule just helps you to identify areas where you can simplify or you can delegate, because often we're so busy trying to do things ourselves that, you know, we overlook opportunities to streamline our efforts. So if you're manifesting more time and freedom like me, maybe consider outsourcing tasks that don't actually require your skills or your attention. So it could mean hiring someone to help with household-like tasks, it could be automating routine processes, It could even be just asking for support from friends or family. When you free up your time and energy, you can then focus more on the high-impact actions that are going to align with your manifestations. And something else I've noticed with the 80/20 rule is understanding that not all goals or desires require equal attention at all times. You know, sometimes focusing on one major area of your life can actually create a ripple effect that improves other areas as well. So for example, when I was prioritizing me health, that then led to increased energy and confidence, and in turn that supported me career, me relationships. So when you identify that 20% of goals that have the power to transform your life, you're actually setting yourself up for exponential growth and basically alignment with your highest potential. But it's important to note that this rule just— it isn't about working less or taking shortcuts, it's just about working smarter. It's about recognizing that your time and your energy are precious resources and choosing to invest them where they'll have the greatest impact is key. And that approach doesn't just apply to work or productivity. It can also transform how you approach relationships or self-care or personal growth. You know, instead of trying to connect with everyone in your social circle equally, for example, you might just start focusing on deepening your relationships with the 20% of people who bring you the most joy and support and inspiration. The beauty of this rule is that it encourages you to align with your purpose and let go of what no longer serves you. By identifying those actions, habits, and commitments that are going to give you the most significant results, you can then release the rest with confidence, and you can know that you're creating space for what truly matters. And that act of letting go is also a powerful manifestation tool because it signals to the universe that you trust in your ability to focus on what's essential and that you're ready to receive more of what aligns with your highest good. So as you start to incorporate that 80/20 rule, you'll start to notice a shift in your energy and outcomes, because focusing on the most impactful actions will not only help you create momentum, but it'll also attract results faster than ever before. You'll find that your manifestation practice becomes more joyful and fulfilling because you're no longer weighed down by unnecessary tasks or distractions. Instead, you're just fully aligned with the actions that bring you closer to your dreams. So just take a moment at some point today just to reflect on your life and just ask yourself, what are the 20% of actions, habits, or goals that are going to bring me 80% of my results? And then just commit to prioritizing those areas. And, you know, sit back and watch as the universe responds to that clarity and focus. It'll start to send opportunities, resources, and support that propel you towards your dreams. And I've just realized that I've gone on for like 26 minutes already, and I've got so many more pointers, so I'm just going to like Flip through these next few pointers that I had because it's so important to remember that transformation and manifestation are not destinations. They are ongoing journeys within us. So the steps that you take today, they're not just about achieving a specific goal, but they're about creating a fulfilling, aligned, and joyful life. The journey is just as important as the outcome, and every single moment is going to offer us an opportunity to grow, learn, and evolve because it's a practice of becoming. It's a continual process of aligning your energy So it's not about perfection or getting everything right all the time. It's more about showing up for yourself and taking inspired actions, trusting that the universe is always working in your favor. Every small step, whether it's journaling your intentions, practicing gratitude, taking time to rest, that's just a building block in the creation of your dreams. And one of the most powerful lessons in manifestation is the importance of celebrating your progress, because too often we focus solely on the end goal but we overlook the growth and the accomplishments that we've experienced along the way. So every milestone, no matter how small, that's a victory worth celebrating. Whether it's a new habit that you've developed, whether it's a mindset shift that you've achieved, or even an opportunity that you've attracted, just take some time to acknowledge and appreciate those moments. Gratitude for your progress just reinforces your alignment with abundance, and it invites more success into your life. And equally important is cultivating patience and trust, because manifestation doesn't always happen on your timeline, and that's okay. Sometimes the universe has bigger and better plans for you than you can ever imagine, and delays are simply a redirection to something even more aligned with your highest good. So trust in the process, even when the path seems unclear. A key aspect of embracing the journey is learning to let go of attachment to specific outcomes. You know, it's essential to have clarity about what you want, but when we cling on too tightly to a particular result, that's going to create resistance. So letting go doesn't just mean like giving up on your desires, it just means releasing the need to control how and when they manifest. And that surrender allows you to remain open to, you know, all the infinite abundant possibilities that the universe has in store for us. Often the reality that unfolds is even more beautiful than what you'd originally envisioned. And another vital component of your journey is having that resilience as well, because challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but they are not signs of failure. They are just opportunities for growth and refinement. And every single obstacle that you encounter is just going to be a chance for you to strengthen your faith and to reassess your approach and deepen your understanding of yourself and your desires. So embracing challenges with a mindset of curiosity and learning that's going to transform them into stepping stones rather than roadblocks. So as you go on with your manifestation practice, just remember the importance of balance, because success isn't just about achieving your goals, it's about enjoying the process and maintaining your well-being. And also just remember community and connection as well. Surround yourself with people who are going to uplift and inspire you. Seek out communities that align with your values and goals. Share your experiences, your challenges, your victories with other people, because that not only deepens your own understanding, but it also creates that ripple effect of positivity and growth. Because together as a community, we are stronger, and the energy of collective intention amplifies our ability to manifest. And then finally on my list, I'd had, you know, embrace the concept of being limitless. The irony that my book is called Limitless, because your potential is infinite. The only limits that exist are the ones that you place on yourself. So as you move forward, just challenge any beliefs or patterns that are holding you back. Step into your power, trust in your ability to create, and just know that you are deserving of all the abundance, joy, and love that the universe has to offer. Because like I say, manifestation is all about self-discovery, empowerment, and transformation. It's about recognizing that incredible co-creator that you are and using your unique gifts and energy to shape your reality. And as you grow and evolve, just remember, the path is yours to create. Every single step that you take is bringing you closer to the life of your dreams. So I just want you to take a deep breath, just trust in the process, and you're going to step boldly into that limitless potential. Okay, I'm finally at the end of my list. Max Rushton here from The Guardian Football Weekly, which I think you should give a listen. It is good. It comes out 3 times a week. And the podcast delivers you analysis, news, both the good and the bad from the beautiful game, and maybe even the occasional laugh. He's angry about everything. He doesn't have a great poker face, does he? I would like to play cards with Bruno Fernandes. You can listen to The Guardian Football Weekly wherever you get your podcasts. Hopefully see you soon.
