A sales manager with a sniper background argues that coaching only works when reps follow the same script every time. Without consistency, you can't give meaningful feedback. Like a shooter using the same finger on the trigger, salespeople need uniform habits before they can be coached.

When I was running sales number, I had 150 plus reps. And one of the things that I consistently sold was that the team leaders or the business owners or the managers were allowing people to say different things in the sales calls. And there was no real consistency. And they wondered why they couldn't make the people in their teams better. It's because most of you are just unfucking coachable, right? Because the questions that you give are like, I had this guy say this one thing once and what do I say to prevent it? It's I don't fucking know. And nobody with an ounce of integrity can actually answer that question. Now listen, I can give you throwaways, right, and be like, say this because it sounds good on content, but in reality, what type of prosperity are they? What are you selling? Are you good at sales or are you bad? Are you new to it? Because if you're new to it, you probably don't need feedback. If I flip a coin a thousand times and it lands on heads the first hundred, what did I learn from that? The answer is absolutely nothing. If you don't do everything the same way every time, it's impossible for me or anybody else to give you any level of actual tangible feedback. And this is whether it's business, sales or. Or shooting, right? Imagine that I'm teaching you how to shoot. I used to be a sniper. And you use a different finger to pull the trigger every single time. And then you're asking all these ballistics questions and I just go, hey, dude, just use the same finger. Let's start there. Bang, bang, bang. You know what I mean? Let's start off with a baseline of consistency. Then I can give you actual structured feedback based on the things that you're doing. But right now, if you're not doing the same thing every single time, the level of variability just stops anyone from being able to coach you.
