A former special operations soldier reflects on a poster showing 4,000 dots, each representing a week of human life. He uses this visual reminder of mortality to argue for taking action now, rather than waiting.
Did I go too far? Let me know. I was on a close the other day, and the guy just couldn't seem to be able to move forward. And so, me being a special operations background, I always like to remind people that we don't have a lot of time. So I said, hey, man, I have a poster in my office. And do you know what that poster has on it? He goes, no. I got 4,000 dots. And do you know what those 4,000 dots represent? He goes, no. I said, it's one week. One dot for every week the average human is given in life. And every single Monday morning, I go to that poster and I squiggle off one dot. And do you know why I do that? Because every single Monday morning, I want a constant and persistent reminder that our time on this planet is finite. And I need to do everything that I can in order to put myself in a position where I can win. So how many dots are you willing to fill in before you actually start doing something about this? Let me know that I go too far.
