A speaker shares why they changed their mind about sales after working with a client trying to lose weight. They realized they couldn't motivate the client the way they wanted to, which shifted how they see the work.
I always thought sales was a bit icky, you know? And I remember this big fat dude came in and he was like 50 kilos overweight. And he's telling me, he's like, I need to lose weight. And I was like, yeah, sweet. You need this much weight loss, it's gonna cost this much money. And he sort of gave me. He's like, oh, I just gotta go and, like, work out the times. And I was like, mate, the time was like 40 kilos a gum. That was the time. Now it's like, let's do this, you know? And he was sort of like, oh, yep, yep, sweet. I'll get back to you. I saw him, like, six months later, and the dude was like 70 kilos overweight. And I was like, that was just my inability. Because that person had shown the glimmer of motivation, right? Because he was there, right? He was there. And it was like my job was to create the argument of, hey, how about you do something to not die as fast, right? You get one life. Let's live it, champ. Right? And I couldn't do that. So I was like, oh, fuck me. Like, that's on me.
