New Years Resolutions Are Killing Your Growth

Motivational/opinion video by Matt Ryder (ex‑Special Forces sniper and entrepreneur) arguing New Year’s resolutions are ineffective and that people should start acting immediately toward goals. Ryder uses his military selection and business-growth anecdotes to claim disciplined, continual execution and problem‑solving (not calendar-based resolutions) produce results; he emphasizes personal responsibility, planning, and immediate action.

In this video I'm going to talk about why news resolutions are stupid, why they're fake, most likely gay, and why if you actually do them, you're probably all of those things. My name is Matt. I'm an ex Special Forces sniper. I am a multi millionaire. Through sales and running my own businesses, I've grown three business to eight figures. And I have been at the very top of every single sales organization I've ever been in. And the reason is because I just try really, really hard. You too can do the same thing. But you're probably stuck in that New Year's resolution bullshit rut where you think that, like it's a new year, it's a new me. In this video I'm going to break down exactly why that's really fucking retarded. Oh, retard alert. When I was a kid, I remember I watched the planes fly into the towers and as they probably wanted us to, I went straight to army recruiting the moment I got out of high school. And I was like, hey, I want to be in the military now. I was born in Australia, but I grew up in the States. Had a friend of mine from the SAS call me up and be like, hey, you should come over to Australia, it's better. Yada yada, yada. Anyway, I went through all the Marine recruitment and then at the last minute pulled out and then went over and joined what's called the direct recruiting Special Forces scheme over in Australia. And then I went through and became a Special Forces operator and I became a Special Forces sniper. And I got there because I just tried really, really hard. I failed, I had setbacks, I had all these kind of things along the way. But I always had my end state in my vision in mind. I remember seeing a, a picture of someone who was wearing all black and they were on the side of a building. And I literally took that to the recruiting when I came back to Australia and I was like, how do I be this person? Who is this person? They said, that's a tag operator. I was like, okay, cool. How do I do that? And they said, you got to do all these steps. And so I was like, okay, I'll do that. And now the attrition rate is enormous. I went into the Special Forces scheme. Then from there we had like 120 rough numbers. I don't really remember the exact ones. We had 120 people at boot camp. Then from there we had like say 60 to 80 march out of there. Then from there went to infantry training. We lost a Few more there than advanced into training. We lost a few more there from there. Went into Special Forces selection from there. You know, I think there was, it's a whole like army wide course. There was maybe a couple hundred people to start with by the end of it. From the people that started with me in boot camp, there were about, I think there are about four of us that ended up finishing everything and becoming fully qualified commandos. I think I was the only one that became a sniper from that crew because sniper is a whole nother like selection course that you have to do again. So, you know, the, the odds of it, doing it are very low. People get injured, yada, yada, yada, they pull out. They realize it's not what they want to do. But I had that plan and I just started doing stuff. I remember I got given the fitness test and this is as A, you know, 19 year old, I got given the fitness test and I was like, okay. And I just started doing it immediately. The problem is people are waiting. Like, you think that you have time and you just don't. You have no time. You could die tomorrow. You could die right after watching this video. You could die while watching this video. And it's shit and gay. And that you think that you have more time than what you actually have. And it's the reason why you haven't done. Know why? Because you're a big fat. If you wanted to lose weight, you would just start going to the gym and eating healthy today. If you wanted to start a business, you would do it right now. If you're waiting for the right time, there isn't one. And chances are there never will be one. Because the same thing that stops you from doing something right now is the same thing that stops you from doing it in one day, one week, one month, one year right now. It doesn't mean that there aren't logistical barriers that you have to overcome, but you can start problem solving your way through that process immediately. You do not need permission. You do not need anything. You just need to fucking do it. That's it. No questions asked. And if you're waiting for this New Year, new Me bullshit to be the thing that kind of brings you out and drags you forward, it's not gonna be it. You're the same retard that you were before the ball dropped, you know, when your dad's balls dropped. Like you're that same idiot. You are a Todd. Yes. And physical or mental. And so like, you need to have a serious look if you're not doing all the things required to get your outcomes. And you know what I mean? Let's say you want to be in a relationship, like what are you doing? If it's just swiping on Tinder, that's stupid. Why are you gay? If you want to be better at sales, like, what are you doing about it? Are you actually thinking and planning your way through this? Or are you just like me, sign up sales course and then I just go and ask a bunch of questions? Or have you actually sat and academically thought, thought about the process that you would need to do the outcomes that you want to get and how you plan to achieve it? Because if you're not doing that, if you're not sitting down, thinking about it, writing things out, looking at how would I do what, then you're not actually trying to achieve anything at all. You're just kind of like meandering around, hoping that somebody gives you the answers. And the people that have the answers are probably not going to give them to you or you're not going to have access to them because, and like you don't want to do it that way anyway. Like only 4% of people who lose weight keep it off, off, right? That's like, that's the stat. The reason is because they're just being told what to do, not why to do it. And they're not actually going through a problem solving process and figuring out by themselves. They just try a few things half ass and they give up. And that's how they run their entire life. All those sit ups, but deep down, still just a little fat, fat, fatty loser. You have to actually use your brain and think through the things that you're doing. And so I had a plan. When I wanted to be a special forces operator, I had a plan. I knew the things I had to do. I had that vision in mind and I executed on those things. And I had road bumps, I got injuries, I had all that kind of stuff. It's fine. These things happen. They don't stop you from progressing the goal. When I got out of the military, I started my first business. I became a personal trainer. I was like, okay, I look around, the successful personal trainers are good at what they do. So I went and did a bunch of courses to become a better personal trainer, you know what I mean? Then I was like, oh, okay, I need to learn sales. And I started going down that route and then I started learning marketing and all that kind of stuff and it was like, again, it's just doing things one after the other. I Went through a period when I opened my gyms where I thought I was doing stuff, but I really wasn't. I was just sort of like working really hard and doing lots of hours, but I wasn't doing the uncomfortable shit that I was bad at and not really using my brain to actually progress forward. And I was in like a stagnant sort of bullshit for like 4 or 5 years until I had a wake up call and I was like, oh, I have to actually start executing and doing stuff and going after it and growing and using my brain. And from that moment I grew three eight figure. So I grew to eight figure businesses within 24 months of that. No, 36 months. Within three years. Within three years I had simultaneously two eight figure businesses at the same time. And along that way I learned a lot. And I, but I just executed, executed, executed, executed and decided to use my brain to problem solve my way through everything. And you can do the same as well, you might not. You don't start out being good at it. You start out being able to solve small problems. Then you get better and better and better. But if you're sitting back and you're watching this and it's early January when I plan to release this, and you're like, man, this new Year, new me thing, like that is fake and gay. And if you're relying on it to be the savior, it's not going to be that. Just go out, create a plan, write it down, execute it. And if you can't do that, I argue that you really don't give a fuck anyway.
