Personal brand gets people in the door, but your product has to keep them there. Gary Vaynerchuk built VaynerMedia on his name, then scaled it into something bigger. Without that transition, you're stuck trading time for money.
Product or personality? What do people buy? What are they actually attracted to? If I was to talk about VaynerMedia VaynerMedia is Gary Vaynerchuk's actual business. There are a relatively large company but Gary Vanderchuck is the personality behind it that drives all of the people towards VaynerMedia. Now at some stage there needs to become a flip because you can't have the entirety of a business relying off a personality. So if you take something like Sandler. Sandler is a sales training company. The man who started it whose name was Sandler, he posted away a while ago. That company has actually done considerably more revenue since he passed because the Sandler Institute became an actual brand within itself and they were able to transcend the need for personality. People will attach onto a personal brand much easier and much quicker than what they will a product. But there needs to be an intention if the business is going to last for a long time for that brand to turn into product. But at first people always buy personality.
