A logistics manager explains how separate KPIs across functions create chaos and proposes a unified framework instead. A Control Tower and decision engine give you one reliable data source. Linking tier-1 KPIs to downstream procurement and manufacturing decisions recovers costs and improves visibility.

What we do as a logistic manager, if I'm working on certain things, I'm only focused on my KPIs. But if there is a procurement guy or a strategic sourcing or the warehouse guy, he has certain area of focus. He's only focusing in this outcome which is, you know, driven by certain decision and he wanted to focus on that. So isolation is always creating a lot of chaos. So I think it's very, very important first should not work on silos. Define the KPIs in, as I just mentioned, uh, decision, acknowledge, and execution. And then to make sure that we will work on this together. So if we need a high-performance decision engine, so I think that's what really worked for us. Uh, we talk about Control Tower, we talk about multiple things, you can see anything, but I think reliability on one data is a big challenge, as Pallavi mentioned that. But there the control tower comes to the picture. So you need to have one central source of information, not only a single source of information. We have to build those KPIs and then drive across the supply chain function. So when I, I talk to my team, I talk to the, you know, the process engineers, I always talk about the value chain. I never talk about how this is my logistic channel, uh, challenges, sorry, and how it is going to impact the, you know, the overall value. It's always that, okay, we have an issue in this key performance indicator at a tier 1 level, how it is impacting my sub-metrics, and also long run, you know, impacting my procurement decisions and also on the manufacturing decision. So I think it's very, very important to identify those KPIs across value chain and then execute and acknowledge on time. And that is going to drive your cost to recovery and, you know, more visibility in terms of decisions.
