Batunde explains why Transport Management System software will become essential for Indian logistics. TMS handles four things: sourcing vehicles at the right price, real-time tracking, proof of delivery, and e-way bills. India's massive truck fleet and reliance on surface transport make adoption inevitable.
Batunde, what's your— I know you've mentioned that you are currently in the implementation, so what's your take on the market?
Yeah, I think it is not a matter of choice. Anirban and Nilad, they have covered that part in a way that companies are moving towards that because there are 4 broad aspects of this One sourcing the vehicle. Second one, you know, tracking it through the journey throughout its journey from point of origin to the destination. Third is POD, and fourth is e-way bill. Now the last two which I mentioned, they have you know a legal connotation. They have a commercial connotation. Tracking the journey part, you can say, is more about being more efficient. But when we talk about, uh, you know, sourcing the vehicle— am I sourcing the right vehicle at the right price? Now this trend is picking up. So when the answer to your question in this context is that TMS software, after a few years will no longer be a matter of choice. It is becoming the need, and therefore the future of this market is really bright in India. Looking at the volume, the quantum number of trucks which ply, and India's dependence on surface transport makes it even more lucrative proposition.
