Why Tina decided it was time to join SYS while being a singer!

Tina talks about joining Spice Yourself Skinny while pursuing singing. She struggled with previous weight loss programs and had to adjust her diet around her singing career and reflux issues, with help from her family on meal prep.
Before starting Spice Yourself Skinny, I actually joined up this with the program that was run by a lady who was doing, you know, the biggest loser here in Australia. So she's got this program and you can download it on the app and then it comes with exercise. And what I found was like, it was a bit overwhelming for me because I had so much weight to lose and I was thinking, you know, I've got to eat well, I've got to exercise. And she had an exercise plan on the app and it was really overwhelming. So what I found was when I would exercise, I would feel hungry and I like feel jittery because I guess I didn't have enough food in me. And yeah. So I was just felt like I needed to eat more. So I would eat more and then I'd go off the plan and it was just overwhelming like that. Whereas like Spicy self Skinny is. We're just focusing the first few weeks is just focusing on food. And it's. That's what really helped me as well. It was just like it wasn't too many things to think about. Like I had to fit in exercise, I have to do the meal prep and. Yeah, but yeah, so that made a huge difference.
Oh, so you tried something else and you did it. You put your best foot forward. But just realistically, it was a lot to handle. And it's so true when you're doing food and exercise, which most weight loss programs and most healthy lifestyle programs are about food and exercise. But really if you actually study weight loss like I've done and lived through, it's really about eating right. And eating right is 50% of weight loss. So I mean not 50%, 80% of weight loss. So I love how you felt like it wasn't overwhelming. You needed something that was easy, that was something that was doable, right?
Yeah, and it was doable. Cause my schedule is like I'll take teach during the day, then I would go and go and have my lunch, but I would have lunch takeaway because I wouldn't have anything prepared for a lunch. And then I would pick up my son, then I'd go home and then I teach till 8:30 at night. And I would just give money to my husband and say, okay, go out and get me some takeaway or get some takeaway for all of us. And yeah. And that's when the weight started to come on. It was like just really preparation was not there. And now I have. We look forward to our meal preps on Sundays. So I'll cut up the vegetables. We'll go shopping all together as a family. And my son loves it. And so we all go there. He gets the vegetables with me and all the meats and everything that we need. And then we come home, I put my Netflix on and I start meal prep. And it all lasts for a few hours, but it's fun, you know, like. And I have in my mind, okay, this is for the rest, for the whole week. It will be less stressful for us. And my son loves being organized, so he'll say to me, come on, Mum, well, let's go and get the groceries and let's get ready for the week.
So it's like a family affair. And he likes to be involved, too. So does he eat. Does he eat the same food that you eat on spice? Your sauce skin? Does your husband eat it, too?
Yeah, my husband eats it. My son eats it, except for when it's too spicy. So that's actually one of the things why I was reluctant to join Spice Yourself Skinny, because I'm a singer and I do have reflux and I don't want to have any irritation in my throat. So I was. But when I joined the first two days, I really felt the reflux. So I was. I adjusted my. The spices that I would put in, and then everything was settled. So now I love putting chili flakes on my food, which I never used to do, and even hot sauce. That was a big change. And I've noticed that it's really curbed my appetite, so I don't feel like reaching out for any more food. You know, I feel really good.
