2021 BEST FB Ad Audiences Guide (High Profit/Low Competition)

Alex Becker breaks down Facebook, Google, and YouTube audiences that worked in 2021 after iOS changes. Skip micro-layering and use broad Facebook audiences instead. Build lookalike audiences from actual sales, not add-to-cart events, with 3% lookalikes often performing best. Track revenue with Hyros or offline conversions rather than trusting Facebook's numbers.

Fellow Hyrulean, what audiences are working on Facebook? How do you make good juicy audiences to get you a big juicy ROI so that you can buy a lot of juice? That was a horrible way to open this up, but I'm going to show you how to do it in this video. Look, I've seen the audiences that are working across the entire industry. I've seen in my ad account what is working. I'm going to walk you through the audiences on Facebook and even on Google Ads and YouTube ads that just work really, really well. Right now if you use these, you're probably going to see good results. If you know the layer things properly, you're going to see even better results. So that's what I'm going to show you in this video. Let's get to it. Okay guys, so I'm going to show you a few audience tips that have been working really well for us. And basically what I'm seeing across the entire industry as the CEO of Hieros, look, I'm never going to be sharing people's stats, never going saying, oh this is what so and so is doing. It's working really great. Copy it. That being said, I see the trends in the industry. I'm going to show you a trend I see right here. So let's talk about a few things. First off, post iOS and just really before, I really haven't seen that great of results from CBO audiences. Okay, you can see right here we can look at the cost per call. If we're just looking at basic Facebook stats right here, these are usually pretty inflated. I'm going to be straight up. I have the actual higher stats on my dashboard. Our cost per call I would say is probably about 25% higher. What I'm seeing a lot in Facebook when it comes to targeting is, is how they decided to counter the update was just by, I don't know, I think taking a little bit more credit than they used to for conversions. So that being said, I've seen just a lot better results from standard ad sets where we don't have CBO runner out there. So I would totally split test this as well. Take your same exact audiences, put them in a cbo, run it with the same amount of ad spend compared to the audiences that you're running it with. Okay, so if we can look at this is the same exact clone right here. We got 317 per call, 251 the stats and high roast lineup as well. And I'm just seeing a lot better results by going in and running the ad sets based on their results in roi. Okay, again, super duper important that you're actually using your hyro stats because again, this is an E commerce store right here. This green bar right here, report vs revenue shows all the sales we caught vs what Facebook in this instance caught. You can see it's massive. There's not a single campaign where we're not catching more sales. And if you're not working with your campaigns that are delivering a much higher ROI. For example, this one right here, Facebook said it generated $300 in sales. It actually generated almost 694, almost a 2x ROI versus like a little 25, 10% ROI right here. You're just not going to make the right scaling decisions. This is doubly, triply true with a call funnel because what's going to happen is in call funnels you can't see the actual sales coming in because you're closing the calls on the phone. Okay, Hybris tracks this perfectly right here. So if you're not scaling based around actual revenue coming in on your call funnel, you're being a maniac because you can see that this call funnel right here or this ad group right here, this ad audience got me a great cost per call, no sales. This audience right here had double the cost per call, got me tons of sales. So super profitable. Not profitable. If you're scaling campaigns that are not profitable, you're not going to be profitable. If you're scaling campaigns that are profitable, you're going to be profitable. So for the love of everything that is good in this world, please track your stats correctly. I don't care if you use hieros or something or a stick or you just have a guy chase people down at him with a wiffle bat and ask them where they came from. Track your stats. Are you crazy? Anyways, let's get back to talking about audiences. So what I've seen work really, really, really well is first off, I want to point out big giant audiences are where the money seems to has been at for us. If we go and look at this, the targeting on this campaign right here is going to be AdWords. That's it. Age 24 to 55. Okay? I'm not targeting 18 year olds. You got to use some logic right here. Hiros is targeting businesses doing at least 40,000amonth in revenue. So obviously that's not going to be many 18 year olds. Okay? There's a few ballers out there. I guess we're going to miss them. This is what works best right here. But I'm just using a big old giant audience. A lot of people try to avoid these like the plague. They use like really small audiences. They do like a lot of layering. I'm really thinking post iOS they're just not as good at doing that micro targeting, but they're still really good at big old broad targeting. So first I'm gonna tell you straight up, you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Okay. I'm running a company where we sell ad analytics to people that run ads. And I'm targeting people that are interested in adwords. Just a big old juicy giant audience. Let's go. What's also been working super well for us, and I'm seeing across the industry is more sale focused audiences. Okay, so a lot of people put in their add to carts, they put in their opt ins, they put in their calls. ROI wise. This doesn't make any sense. Cause calls and add to carts and opt opt ins don't pay the bills. Revenue does. Okay, so you can easily see our best campaign right here performance wise has been a sales focused lookalike audience around 3%, which is pretty huge. Okay, that's like millions and millions of people. And again, we're just seeing this line up across a lot of our actual customer audiences. So how are you making these very simple. Just go to audiences, upload a list of all your customers, create a 3% audience round. That's really where we're seeing the sweet spot up. I'm going to be experimenting a lot with like 5%, 8%. But as you can see, when we usually start to crack that 5% area, looking at it right here, it really kind of starts to break down. So we're looking at usually 3% sales audiences. This call audience right here is doing good, but you can see the sales audience, it's doing a little bit better. Again, there's not enough data right here to make a super huge conclusion. But again, the sales audiences also brings in more sales overall as well. So this is what I've been seeing working on Facebook. Big giant audiences, you would think the opposite. Now that we got iOS doing all sorts of things, we want to micro down. Micro down, micro down. No, Facebook already has the targeting data on your pixels and if you're using high risk conversions to send in tons of accurate data, it has really good data for your pixels. You should be using high risk and you should be sending and offline conversions in the Facebook because it gets you more sales in the Facebook, more accurate sales, more Accurate data leads to more accurate targeting. Okay. I keep repeating all these really basic, simple things that everyone should use. You should use it anyways. So let's now talk about what's working really well at Google. So I want to show you some of our best performing audiences. And there's a few little weird things I do, but I'm looking at the cost per call and everything that's coming in here. And we're just using kind of broad metrics right here. Let's look at a super basic audience. Because what people usually do wrong when they're on YouTube is they try to make these really complicated audiences when you really don't need to make that complicated of audiences. Okay, so if we look at this audience right here, what's the custom audience? It's intent audience. I absolutely love intent audiences because they go and target people based on their intent. So people who are intent on looking up click funnels, very small audience. Right here you can see I only have the keywords click funnels and click funnels split apart in there. Audience is absolutely great. What a lot of people try and do is they try and get every single keyword ever found in the history of something. You don't need to do that. You can see these big keyword intent audiences. This has worked for me scaling webinar offers. I've seen this work on E commerce offers. I've seen this work in call funnel offers. This is one of the biggest secrets to AdWords right here is just keeping it simple. Okay? And a lot of people always ask, do I want to use keyword audiences or I want to use what do I want to use? Intent audiences gets you 90% of the way there. Okay, here's another one that we've used a whole lot similar audiences. So when you go and upload an audience, you can go and grab people that watch specific YouTube videos, specific people that watch your YouTube channels. You can create audiences similar to people that watch your channels. Well, this is gonna give me data that Google has the most of because it knows the most about people that are already on their site. If you upload a list of people, it can only use limited data on what it has on them. People that watch your YouTube channels are a really good audience these days. And so I have a nice juicy similar to people that have watched my ad channel, my ad channel in the last 540 days. Look, if you have a channel that's all over the place, or for example, I have a crypto channel, I'm not going to target people that Watch that channel or people similar watch that channel for Hiros, not the target audience. Finally, an audience that I really like to target is going to be layered audiences. So let me show you how to make these. So look, this is pretty ninja. What we can do is we can take intent audiences and layer them with the large in market audiences. And so what an in market audience is in Google is there's many ways you could look at it, but it's basically people that are in the market for buying paid advertising or interested in some form of advertising right here or whatever the hell that you want to get them into. Okay, if we go look at infinities or in market audiences right here we can go to in market audience. And so let's say we have people in the market for arts and crafts supplies, something like that. Okay, so what we can do right here is we can do a combined audience. So I can click right here and, and I can grab one of my intent audiences. So let's just go and look at, let's just say my, let's go find one of my audiences, people that are searching for tracking, okay? And then I can narrow the audience or what I would do first actually is I would do a big old broad audience. Okay, so let's look at an advertising or an in market audience and let's just do advertising, alright? Advertising, marketing, service, people that are in the market for this. I'm going to narrow the audience with people that are interested in tracking. Okay? So I got. This is like a double whammy. People are interested in advertising, marketing and people that are looking up tracking terms or watching tracking videos or whatnot. Sometimes you might actually pick an audience that's too small. So tracking is pretty small. In this example. I've used this before. So what I might do is put in like the click funnels audience. Alright, let's just go look at some of my custom audiences. So let's just go look at people that are looking up Shopify terms, alright? So I'm targeting people that are interested in buying advertising and marketing that are also into Shopify terms in Google. This right here is a great custom audience because it's layered. So let's say I'm selling Hiros to people that are running Shopify stores that also run paid ads. Bam. Bam. These audiences work really well and a lot of them can scale really far. So you're just getting a little bit more accuracy out of your audiences. Now we can keep narrowing it down, but I usually only like to use two layers. After that you're really splitting it up too much. You're not gonna get the amount of traffic that you want. And those right there, guys, are the audiences I'm seeing working. They're not nearly as complicated as some people would think they need to be. Okay, Overall, after the iOS update, I'm seeing big, chunky audiences are working okay. And the way you also again need to justify if an audience is working out by tracking it correctly so you can see if it's actually generating sales. That's it.
