Andy Destroys Mercedes Manager… (Breaks Down A to Z What She Did Wrong)

Andy Elliott cold-calls a used-car manager named Misha about a 2022 Chevy Equinox with 63,000 miles when the buyer wanted under 50,000. Misha barely engages and pivots to a loaner instead of addressing the objection. Andy breaks down what she missed: acknowledge the concern, reframe mileage as maintenance history, invite inspection, build emotional reasons to buy, and offer to meet the customer in person.

How long you been selling cars for? I've been in sales for 44 years. Wow.
These aren't role plays. These are real dealers with real objections. And I'm putting their calls to the test. Watch me break down who actually knows how to sell and who's just talking.
Not hungry to sell a car.
I was calling to get some information on a vehicle I saw on the Internet or your owner of your store heard you take this call. So is that a typo on the price?
Well, I'll tell you what, buddy.
I'm going dark mode. Thank you for calling. Okay, guys, I decided instead of asking for a salesperson this time, I'm going straight to the manager. Let's see how they handle it from.
Hello, thank you for holding. This is Misha. How may I help you?
Yeah, I was trying to get a hold of a used car manager.
Sure. What can I help you with, sir?
Is this you, Misha?
Yes, it is.
Oh, great.
Great. I was calling to get some information on a 2022 Chevy Equinox. I'm actually about to walk into the finance department and purchase a vehicle, so I didn't want to go through a sal salesperson. I wanted to just try to talk to you for a minute and see if I could put this together.
Yeah, absolutely. I got it pulled up right in front of me. What would you like to know, bud?
Okay. Is it the stock number? Lap 043.
Yep.
Okay, awesome.
What.
What's the miles on that one?
You have 63653ish.
Okay, I got it. Yeah, I was really wanting to stay under 50,000, so I don't know why I couldn't read the miles. Right. Ok, well, I think I'll just get this one then.
Okay. Was there something in particular you were looking for or what was your kind of goal? Was it just an equinox for under 50,000 miles?
Yep.
A 2022 Chevy Equinox. Love this color. And I wanted to stay around 50,000 miles, but I noticed it's got 63 on it.
Gotcha. Okay, well, if you change your mind, let me know. I will also throw out there that we do have one remaining 2025. That was a loaner car that has about 6,000 miles on it, but we ton of money off of that one. So I don't know kind of what the price point you were looking for, but I wanted to throw that out there as well.
Okay, awesome. Well, I appreciate it. How long have you been a manager there, Misha?
I have been. Well, I worked here 10 years ago, left, came back. I've been in the car business about 20 years.
Wow. 20 years.
Yeah.
Wow. 20 years experience. Okay, let me ask you a question real quick. When. When I said that the miles were too high, do you teach your team to overcome object or to just let the customers go? Yeah, I was just thinking. I was like, you know, because I really like this car. It's got 63, 000 miles. It's got 13, 000 miles more than I wanted. I really wanted to stay at 50, but if I wanted this car I was looking at, I probably would have pulled the trigger on it and not called you. But I did call you because I'm completely not sold. And then when. When I was just curious, like, why you didn't try a little bit harder, because I could have been, you know, maybe one more try away from coming in and buying it. So I just. I just wanted to ask. I've always been kind of fascinated, like, how people give up too quick. So I wanted to ask.
Well, the only reason, honestly, is because customers are always very kind of. They try to buy cars over the phone, which is almost impossible, quite honestly. Mileage, you know, doesn't really matter. It's more so based on how the vehicle was taken care of, you know, but. Okay, Misha, that's really hard to convince somebody when they haven't even looked at the car.
So. So, Misha, number one, you sound like an amazing woman. Okay, I. I really appreciate your time, and I can tell you're very sweet and very kind. Can I give you a couple tips that I think will help you sell a lot more cars?
Hey, guys, every day I see in the comment section that people are like, andy, how can I train with you? How can I get close to you? I'm a sales leader.

I love you guys. I'll reach out to myself, fill out your information, do it right now, and.
Then let's get back to the video. Can I give you a couple tips that I think will help you sell a lot more cars?
Yeah, sure. Who is this? Are you a customer? Consumer? Are you?
No, I'm a customer. Yeah, I'm a customer. I just wanted you to know that, like, I noticed behaviors and buying patterns and as I spend my money, I just thought, man, like, honestly, like, if I would have been completely sold to buy this car that I was looking at, then I wouldn't have called you. So I want you to step one. If somebody's calling you, there's some interest, they got an itch, I want you to scratch it, okay? If they didn't have an itch, they would have already bought the other car. And so I didn't do that. So I wanted you to pick up on that quickly that, you know, like, I want something you have. And then secondly, I only had a simple objection. I said, I really, I said, man, I really want, you know, 50,000 miles. And at the end of the day, when I asked you and you said it yourself, you said every car's taken care of a little bit differently. That's where you should have went into. Okay? Right away you should have said, hey, I totally understand. However, the vehicle that you're looking at with 50,000 miles right now, it's not your dream vehicle and it's not perfect to you, even though the miles are right because it doesn't feel right because you're calling me. And so the vehicle that I have that's pulled up front, that's sitting outside, it might be 13,000 miles higher, which is two oil changes, which is nothing on a four year old vehicle, am I right? Like, that's nothing. If I covered the odometer on this vehicle, Misha, you'd literally think it had 20,000 miles. If I covered the odometer, you think it had 20,000 miles? That's how nice this car has been taken care of. And by the way, at the end of the day, all you probably want is a brand new vehicle, but spend pre owned money. Am I correct?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Good. I love that. Misha, look, I have the right car for you, okay? Since you're across the street, you wouldn't have called me if you were absolutely certain you wanted to buy that one. But since there is some uncertainty. My name is Misha. I've been here for 20 years in the car business. And I understand when you spend the money, the car's yours. I don't want you to trade any money for a car you're not completely sold on. I'm going to be totally honest with you. If I went outside and this car didn't have a window sticker in it saying it was a 2022 model, I would think it was a 2025 or 2026. It is that nice. The customer that traded it in, they babied it. It's in unreal condition. Even my service manager said, One to 10, it's an 11. I think you're going to be blown away. Matter of fact, I know you're going to be blown away. Why don't we do this? I'm going to grab the keys, meet you outside myself. No salesperson, just me. I'll hand you the keys, you take a peek at it, and if you don't want it, you go back and buy the car you want. But if you like this one, me. And you'll sit down and talk about it personally, the manager. Does that sound fair? Misha, if you would have done that, you would have closed this deal. And I'm willing to bet. I want you to write this down. Perception is reality. You were telling me when a customer has their mind made up, it's hard to change it. No, it's not. A lot of people sit down at the kitchen table and they decide on monthly payment budgets. And they get to the dealership, they walk around, they say, I want to be at 250amonth, 300amonth. You know that's not realistic. Okay? And then you have to go in, do your job, make them have fun. Take the pressure out of the deal, right? Make it easy to say yes to, hard to say no to. And make it their idea. Make them fall in love with the car, get them Emotional and remind them that buying a car is the number one most important thing in their life because it's where their family spends the most time in. It's how they make their money. It's how they do life. They even spend more time in their car than they do their house. So it's probably the most important decision of their life.
That's it.
And so today, I wanted to give you a tip that's going to help you crush it. Because you didn't come back to this dealership to let deals leave. You came back to this dealership to move the needle and break records. Am I right? I just told you how to do it. Does that help you?
Yeah. Well, thank you so much for taking the time to say all that to me. I really appreciate it.
Good.
The next person, don't let him leave. Have a blessed day. Love you. All right, so I want to tell.
You guys something really quick.
I see this all the time, okay? We say salespeople are weak. And this is a really nice lady, but she is weak, too, okay? It's the sales team's job and the manager's job to give the clients reasons and excuses why they should say yes. That wasn't done.
