Bedroom Startup To 60 Staff - Why You Need an Office For Your Business

Sabri Suby spent a year making 150 cold calls daily from a bedroom with a $30 VoIP account, working 18-hour days. He lost a $36,000 deal because clients wouldn't take him seriously without an office, so he scaled up and hired staff.

Great point, man. How many years were you working on this by yourself until you started bringing a team? Yeah, I was working on it solo for a year.
So I was doing it out of a rented bedroom. You know, my girlfriend at the time.
Who'S now my wife, you know, she bought me a computer. I loaded $30 into my VoIP account and started just jamming on the telephones. 150 cold calls a day. And I was selling by day and then doing all the work and the fulfillment by night.
I was working like 18 hour days. And then I did that for probably about six months.
And then I hired some contractors and I was still working from home at the time. And like, it was crazy. Like, I had. I pretended that it was all these.
People working in my company and I.
Was using different accents that my, my wife was helping out and she was like the accounts department. And I did that for about a year. And then basically I had like a $36,000 website deal on the line. And the dude was like, hey, I just want to come in and shake your hand before I sign on the dotted line, before we get. Before we get going, right? And like, I certainly wasn't telling people that I had an office, but I wasn't telling them I didn't have an office either, right? So I was like, look, that's just not really the way that we do business, you know, like, we've got clients all around, around the world. Like, you know, all of our business is done over the telephone. It's like, I don't understand why I just can't come in and shake your hand. And I lost that deal, right? And then I was like, man, what am I doing here? Like, you know, how long am I going to stay, like, just working home to actually, what are you doing here? And I had to kind of get real with myself for a moment and say, like, what does the next five to 10 years look like for you? Like, what is it you're trying to do? And that's when I made the conscious decision to go out there and build something that was just a lot bigger than me.
