Sabri Suby shows how to write Facebook ad copy by studying what your target audience actually reads. Look at the magazines, headlines, and celebrities they consume, then steal their exact words. A 35-year-old and 45-year-old want different things, so write for one person, not an age range.

Amanda Sabri Subhi joins me now in the studio. I really look at business as an incredible vehicle to really like make good and make change in the world. The first thing that I do see when I look at these headlines is that they are very formulaic. When you're thinking about it, the first thing that you got to think about is the shoes of the person that you're speaking to, right? Right now we've got 35 to 45 year olds and that's because what we know. But as soon as you get enough data in the ad account that should be one age bracket. Like when someone says to me that their age, that their Target market is 35 to 65 year old women, then for me I immediately know that they don't know their target market because the target market is one person. A 35 year old is radically different to a 45 year old, right? So much so that let's just say that a 35 year old won't have a child, won't have a family, but we know that more 45 year olds will. That changes someone, right? Even a 35 year old, they are a completely different person on a Monday at 10am to they are at Saturday at 11pm they're completely different people, right? So when people are like, oh my target market is this. Well that's not what your target market is. Your target market is one individual. So that's the first thing to kind of think about. I don't think that a 45 year old woman would identify with the word bulletproof. I just don't think that that's the language that they would be speaking in. And I think that if you looked at the novels and the magazines that 45 year old women read, you won't find that language on them. So let's just Google it right now. Boom. I've got them. Just a nice quick Google search, down and dirty and I'm in the thick of it already, right? Women's Health, Women's Day, Cosmopolitan or Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, blah blah, blah blah blah, right? And then you start just opening up these puppies and start having a little look, right? And start to look at the language and see if anything is going to jump out at you. So cool. They've got secret here in this headline. You've got secret in a couple of your headlines. People love secrets. Like 99% of these magazines are about one thing and the thing that they're about is gossip. That's what they're all about. So that's what your headline should be. And when you write a headline like how thousands of Aussie women are earning a living from home baking cookies, what does that sound like? It sounds like gossip. Who are these thousands of Aussie women, right? How are they making a living Selling from home. So again, it's about giving them what it is that they want. Breaking Royal news, right? That's the reason we use this stuff is because these like most of the editors for these magazines, guess what, the thing that they do, they write the front cover because that's the thing that sells the frickin magazine. Right. They're the best headline writers in the world. Yeah. So a lot of the people that like founded these magazines, like a lot of them still are in charge of what's on that front cover because that's the thing that sells. And our front cover is our ad, it's our headline, it's our lead in, right. You look through all of this stuff and you take this language and you start to use it in your ad copy and like you're gonna be hard to find here. Something that's talking about bulletproof anything. You're right, Right. So sweet surprise, blissful baby moon. Kate Winslet's secret Kiwi escape. Secret is the thing that you will just see repeatedly, over and over and over and over again. Cause secrets lead to gossip and people love to gossip. And that all these magazines about is gossiping. And I'm looking like a lot of the magazines. Typically it's these little sub bullets here that you want to look at. This is where the most of the juice is at. So see and then like here, the most popular girl in the world, the most popular home businesses to start in 2021. Right. That's the headline right there. Oh, I've been thinking about starting a home business. Right. The most popular home business is to start with zero experience in 2021, whatever it might be. And that's the filter that you want to run everything through. This is all of the media that my target market is consuming. These are the celebrities that they follow, these are the books that they read. Right. Does a 45 year old woman know what a side hustle is? Or is that a more of a millennial term? This seems more of the younger language, like making bank side hustles. Bulletproof. These are the things that I don't think the way that the market talks.
