FB Ads Targeting Supplement Company

Nate Tilley walks through Facebook ad targeting for a supplement company, building lookalike audiences from website visitors and stacking four data sources together. He creates a 1% lookalike from 180-day visitors, then adds interests like muscle building and weight training to narrow a 2.3 million-person audience down to a workable size.

Okay, now we're going to continue to look at targeting. So I made a lookalike audience for the 180 day website visitors, 1% and then we've also got a few other supplement companies and we can kind of do like a lookalike stack. So that's what I'm going to build out. Right now. When you're targeting top of funnel ads, you want to always use the most data that you can have when it comes to lookalike audiences. And so since we've got multiple different data sources to leverage, I'm going to test using a stacked lookalike audience with everything that we've got or using a less stacked audience that's the lookalike specific to that business. So this lookalike I would go only ads for this business but the lookalike, the customer is going to be generally the same. So trying to open up the algorithm and let it do its work.
So I'm just going to name this.
Website.
View.
Create audience, Create a lookalike audience. And I'm just going to do three.
Create audience. And then we've got one more to do.
I'll just pause it while I do this other one. Okay, so now I have my four different data source lookalike here. Very robust lookalike and it's defined with 2.3 million. So I'm actually going to save this audience. Let's see what lookalike expansion will do. Way too many. So let's just keep it at that. 2.3, turn detailed off and see what happens. Okay, we're going to keep detailed off. Okay, so this is going to be lookalike super stack.
And then.
Open. Other than that.
Let me save this audience.
Alright, cool. So that's going to be how we're going to stack the lookalikes together. Now I'm just going to go back over here to my ad set number two. Let Facebook update.
Okay.
And we're just going to do.
We'Ll.
Do muscle and building only since that's our client, specifically the client's page we're running ads for. This will be a test.
Fewer than 1,000. We'll try. What does that do? Too many.
So I'm going to also add an interest with this one and see if we can get that a little bit up. I don't want it to be that 2 million or whatever. So let's try.
Jim. Working out.
We're just going to do three interests in this one.
And we'll do weight training there as well.
See if I can stack a couple different Muslim building audiences on there.
Okay, perfect. That one worked. That's so weird.
But we'll go with it. Cool. So we got our 2.3 million ad set visitors two.
And muscle and building like plus fitness interest.
I'm going to do three to start. Now I'm just going to duplicate this one, add set three and this one we're only going to do the fitness interests. I'm going to take health and wellness out.
I'm going to do that on both. Take these out. Let's turn this off.
Do narrowed.
Weight training. Still broad. Strength training even more broad.
Trying to get the audience down to.
Be like 2 million. Let me see what I can do here.
Okay, I'll try this. We'll still use the lookalike. Weights look alike plus. All right, so we've got a look alike in each one.
Let that go.
Okay, those should be ready to rock. Couple new variations and it's going good.
