Knowledge VS Wisdom (Why You're Reading Too Many Books)

Sabri Subhi argues that reading books without applying them wastes time. Knowledge becomes wisdom only when you tailor it to a specific output you need right now, like sales or leadership. Focus your reading on your current life season, not on collecting information.

Founder Sabri Subhi joins me now in the studio. I really look at business as an incredible vehicle to really like make good and make change in the world. Then the other thing which is really important, right, which a lot of people don't talk about is like one thing that like, you know, I have done over like the last couple of years is like, you know, people always talk about like reading books and like investing in yourself and doing all of this stuff. But that like, it's definitely good advice. But it can also be like in the day and age where there is so much information and there's so much books out there, you know, people also like, they get into a stage where they think that just acquiring knowledge is like a really good thing, right? And it's really, really not. There's something that is dramatically different to knowledge and wisdom, okay? And like knowledge is like when you just walk around and you just collect books and you collect courses and all of this stuff and it's theoretical knowledge, right? But wisdom is like the synthesized like battle hardened, actionable wisdom from that knowledge. And the way that I found the best way to just get that wisdom is like if you're striving for an output, right? So say for instance, like you know, in. If you're looking to get to an output of like I want to get to this sales or it is even for me, like I want to be a better leader, I want to build a, build a better team. I'm looking at like, what is that output that I want, right? And then I'm feeding my brain the inputs that I need to get to that output. So I don't just read books, just random books on random shit, right? Because you're, I'm going to forget all of that knowledge anyway unless I'm applying it and I'm turning it into wisdom, right? You just basically need to sit down and think, well, what are the inputs that I need in order to be able to get was in revenue? Well, like I'm going to need to. The inputs that you'd want to feed your brain in my opinion would be about sales, right? It would be about mindset and it would be about productivity, right. And health and my energy, right? Because I'm looking. Okay, what is, what am I going to need in order to dollars? Well, I'm going to need the right strategies, right? I'm going to need to stay motivated. How do I stay motivated? Well, one way that I stay motivated is by always feeding my brain nutrients around the topic that I'm actually trying to get the output for that just gets you in motion, right? It gets the wheels going immediately. I'm going to need energy, right? Because I can have all the strategies and the tactics in the world, but if I don't feel like violently executing every single day, then I'm not going to get there. Okay, so then how do I do that? Let me finish feed my brain some inputs about how to get, like, lots of energy and be very, very productive, right? But it's like, there's no point about, like, reading books about shit that you're not going to apply because you're going to not retain most of that information anyway. And what I found is the best thing is, like, you think about, like, it might be relationships, it might be health, it might be wellness, whatever that different season that you're currently in in your life. Just read on that. Because then you get that information, that knowledge, and you actually apply it and then it becomes wis.
