Short YouTube monologue by Andy Elliott (appearing in a video uploaded by Nate Tilley) in which he recounts an early car-sales anecdote: while selling a Nissan Xterra he mistakenly implied a buyer was pregnant and later ran out of gas, creating an embarrassing situation. He uses this story to teach a sales-and-public-speaking lesson: when you make mistakes, laugh them off, keep moving, and use humor and confidence to recover from objections and errors.

A lot of you right now. My zipper's down. Dang. Okay, watch this. Sorry about that, ladies and men. That was weird. All right? You know what I'm saying? Anytime you make a mistake, just laugh. Okay? One time, I was 18 years old, there was this girl, I was selling her a car. I said, hey, man, this, this Nissan Xterra, it's super cool. See how the roof kind of goes up? The back's got stadium seating. That way your kids, you know, they can see over the front. You know, like you're pregnant, right? You're going to have a baby. Your baby's gonna be able to be right here in the back, so be able to sit on the front. She goes, I'm not pregnant. I'm like. And I remember I did this exact thing. I said, ma', am, I said, I'm a loser. I just moved right through it. She gets in the car, it's out of gas. It really is. She starts it. When I say out of gas, I mean like, it started. I had enough gas to start, but the needle was under the gas. And she said, we should probably put some gas in. Well, I mean, already did the pregnant thing. That was bad. Then. Then I say, no, man, this got a 60 mile backup tank. We're good. We can take this thing down the road. We're fine. We're good. Let's just go drive it and then I'll fill it up for you when we're done. So we drive three miles down the road, it's 120 degrees, we're in Oklahoma and we run out of gas. So I'm out of gas with the lady that I said was pregnant. She said we were gonna run out of gas. I told her we weren't. I've clearly been wrong on everything. Her are walking together down the side of the highway at 120 degrees. She's overweight. She obviously doesn't like me, but I'm going to close the deal. Just roll through it, okay? When you make a mistake, when you make an embarrassment, when you do something stupid, what are you going to do? It's kind of like learning a word track. When you mess it up, you don't go, oh, man, hold on. I said that wrong. They don't know what the hell you memorized. Just roll.
