THIS killed webinar funnels (I spent $50,000,000 testing it)

Sabri Suby breaks down why automated webinar funnels fail, pointing to a 31-cent acquisition cost as the core problem. He tested moving users through ebooks and landing pages to VSLs with poor checkout, then pivoted to phone sales with higher prices. Call funnels work better because they forgive operational mistakes and generate real profit.

Of course, everybody wants to run an automated funnel at a 500 or a $2,000 product, not speak to anybody, check their stripe account and have money automatically show up without doing nada, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Right. That whole exercise. Of course, of course that's what I want. How much is. There you go. There's your problem. Smoking gun. 31 cents. You're never going to get traffic cheaper than that. Crazy cheap. So we were going through from an ebook to then a long form landing page with a VSL up the top and then they could click through to a checkout page that was absolutely and is still absolutely horrendous. My suggestions to this is that we ran straight to an opt in that would go to a naked VSL with nothing below the fold. And then after we mentioned the price, the CTA would pop and then they could go through to the order form. So when you do that, of course the amount of people that view the checkout page is going to go down dramatically because you're literally removing their ability to go to the checkout page. If you're remotely interested and you go to that long form landing page, you're going to click that button. So you're going to get way more. Right. The whole thing about doing a delayed button pop on a VSL and having it completely naked is that they think that they're going through there and it's like they're watching just this informational piece of content and then before they know it, they're being put under a spell and the CTA pops and then they go through there. You're going to get way less people there. But it's about improving the overall conversion rate. However you. If we made those changes and then we didn't optimize the checkout page, it's not gonna work because the checkout page is so, so bad. The Sam cart and all of those, they continue to be a problem. What you simply need to do is go back to the old funnel where we have a high value content offer to the long form landing page. However, instead of selling the product, you sell the phone call, he increases his price and he sells it over the telephone and his numbers will make sense. The reason that that's the model that we prescribe by and large is because it has probability of people being successful. It allows people that are somewhat sloppy operators to still make the numbers stack up. It's amazing that some of these people are able to function and run businesses. But they are. And that's why the success rate on businesses is so low. I try to remove the need for that person to be a very switched operator by moving to a call funnel with higher ticket product sells with fatter margins that like just burdens a lot of that incompetence. Of course everybody wants to run an automated funnel at a 500 or a $2,000 product, not speak to anybody, check their stripe account and have money automatically show up without doing nada. Right, of course, of course. That's what I want. Right. But that model doesn't work. And it doesn't work if you've got a front end product that you're trying to make money for. The only way that that works is as a feeder funnel to liquidate some of the advertising cost to then have after they do all of that to then go into a normal funnel to get on a call to sell a high ticket program. If we're like, oh this is like an immediate problem, like we really need to fix this immediately, the easiest thing for him to do is to triple his prices and to move to a call and just install calendly and make some changes and that would be the model.
