this is what makes the trenches of ecom worth it

Nathan Miller just bought his first house in Salt Lake City after building a dropshipping business. He reflects on why the grind was worth it: complete autonomy to make his own decisions, have his own space, and run things his way. The payoff, he says, is priceless.

This is the best part of e-com, 100%. The best part of doing dropshipping, e-commerce, this type of online business is 100% what I'm experiencing right now. And to give you guys some context, I just moved into my first house basically, right? The first house that I've ever lived with and that's actually kind of like mine. Like I've had roommates before. I've lived in like pretty nice, like really nice houses actually. But they were never like my space, right? Like I had a room, but it wasn't my space. And this whole entire house is mine. And it's an amazing house. It's in the nicest area in Salt Lake City. The neighborhood is amazing. And like, it is just the absolute dream. I have my own office right here, which is super dope. You know, I have a nice backyard. I have an amazing kitchen, amazing living room, and Honestly, way too much square feet. I like filled half of this house and the bottom half is just empty because I don't have anything for it. It's crazy. And the feeling that I'm feeling and experiencing and so honestly and brutally grateful for right now is the feeling of freedom. And freedom is why we do this and it's what makes it worth it. Like the fact that I don't have to listen to someone else tell me what to do. I don't have to listen to someone else give me advice on how to live my life, how to spend my time, how far I should go, how much I should be obsessed with something, what I should do, what I should read, how I should work. Nobody's got to tell me really anything because I am my own boss at the end of the day. I am. And that's the thing that's amazing about this business model is like, and I just love it so much. Trading, right? You you have to you're you're you have to be in the market, right? The market's gotta gotta bend to your will. With you know any sort of agency, right? Your clients, your you are working for your clients. Your clients are not working for you. But with ecom, it's all in your hands, and it's hard. It's hard. Ecom is not easy. Ecom is definitely difficult. You have to learn so many different skills at once to make it work. and have them all click at the right time, right, with the right product and the right ads. But it's so worth it. I don't care if it took me, if it took me 5 years, if it took me 10 years to have success in e-com, it would have been worth it. Think about that. If it would have taken you 5 years of pure dedication and hard work and running your head through a wall, it would still be worth it. Because that 5th year comes and in the snap of your fingers, your life has changed. And you are free. You are free. There's no going back, right? And I'm just so overwhelmingly just so grateful right now, honestly. Like, it's just, um, life is really good, man. And it's not like I'm even like doing, I guess, the, the, like, the best numbers or anything right now because I'm, I'm in a new chapter, right? I'm starting up this new custom product thing. But it's still just so amazing just to have a routine and to have a place where I can literally do stuff like this, just put a sunset lamp or decorate and put decor and stuff like that. And I get to go and I don't have to talk to anyone I don't wanna talk to. I don't have to listen to anyone I don't wanna listen to. It's just my space. It's my space. I can optimize it for my life, how I wanna live. Right. And it's just, it's so amazing. And I'm like, I'm already like, I'm not introverted, I would say, but like, I am pretty like introverted around other people, especially in groups. I'm kind of introverted. Um, and I tend, usually don't like to go out too much and hang out with people. And this is about to make me even more introverted. Like, this is gonna make me even more introverted because I'm about to get a cold plunge here. Like, I'm about to like deck this thing out. And make it an absolute fortress where I'm just— I don't have a gym here, but there is a room for a gym. I have to buy all the equipment, which is so expensive, but it's still just like, it's still just such a breath of fresh air to just walk through your house and it's just yours. Like, the hallways are yours, the bathrooms are yours, the kitchen's yours. Like, everything's mine and I get to say, I have to say what I wanna do with it. I have no boss telling me to come into work tomorrow. I have nothing. I have nothing. It's a blessing, but it also, you know, with more opportunity comes more responsibility, right? With more freedom comes more responsibility, more discipline, because I have the discipline now where I could just sit at home and scroll all day and no one's gonna tell me anything different, right? No one's gonna tell me to get off my butt. And so yeah, I have to stay consistent. Yeah, I have to push myself. Yeah, I have to, Say no to myself sometimes, and it does take more discipline, whether you think it or not, than a lot of other things. But it's just still so amazing. Like, it's just— I don't know, my life is, is really, really awesome. I'm not gonna lie. And I don't feel bad about saying that because I worked really hard for this. I also had so many people who doubted me. Still to this day, I have people who doubt me all the time. It's like insane. So many people who just like absolutely thought I was gonna do nothing, you know. Man, they're all— it's just so worth it. The point of this video is that it is so worth it to go deep, to make the sacrifices, right? To deny yourself, to delay the gratification and actually just grind something out until you forcefully will it to work. It is so worth it. I'm going through it again. It's a different phase and it's a different level, different chapter, but it's like the beginning again because I'm starting new on this fresh thing and I'm having to do it again. I'm having to put in these 10, 12-hour days and it's honestly so enjoyable. Like, I enjoy it. It's what I want to do. And, um, I hope for everyone watching this video that you can feel the same way about something and that you guys are able to capitalize and Really understand or get at least at least a taste of the freedom, right? Because once you get it, bro, like there's nothing like it. So yeah, but I guess I'll end off this video saying like you know I'm not anything special. I just made decisions that are different than other people, and that's why I'm in a different place. You act differently, you think differently, you watch differently, taking different. Info and different diet, and then you act accordingly to it, and you're going to have a different result. It's so simple. You change your inputs, your outputs are going to change. So focus on your inputs and being different than the regular crowd, obviously. And, um, yeah, you'll be different in the end.
