Nathan Barry walks through hiring for growing companies: use a scorecard, get 50 to 100 applicants, and sell the role to top talent. He draws on the book Who by Geoff Smart and covers the four S's of hiring.

First off, you gotta have the mindset of what it takes to hire great people. I think so many people, and this is maybe even more at the 7-figure mark, they just hire the first person with a pulse. I think it's because by the time you're hiring, what do you not have time for? Anything. That's why you're hiring, right? I'm a big fan of the book called Who by Jeff Smart. Okay. It talks about the 4 S's of hiring, right? You gotta create a scorecard for your role. Most people don't do that. Then you gotta source the best candidates, as many as possible. We try to have at least 50, if not 100, applicants per role that we fill. Then you've got to select the best ones, and then you got to sell them on working for you. The best people are probably not unemployed, and the best people are probably not dying to come work at your company. You got to sell them on the vision and why it makes sense.
