An entrepreneur shares how she more than doubled revenue by simplifying her service offerings and building around what clients actually needed instead of what felt right to her. The biggest mistake: overcomplicating packages and centering the business around founder preferences rather than customer needs.
more than doubling revenue. Yeah. With this one change.
Yeah.
When you moved from products over to services, what are some of the mistakes?
Overcomplicating. That's the number one thing. When I went from services to product, I went so far into like super product memberships. Services the same way. Done for you agency.
Hire 14 people. We'll do everything for you. You don't have to do a thing.
The second mistake is making it about yourself first. Talking with your customer and building what they actually need and what will serve the actual result. You're not building yourself a job, you're trying to build a machine. Your spot in it is temporary.
Any others?
Undercharging. A lot of people don't realize what their costs actually are. They're like, well, I host a call for 1 hour, I charge $500 for it. Oh wait, but I actually prep for an hour beforehand. I send a recap after, and 3 months later I send them a gift bag, and that cost me $15. And all of a sudden you're like, oh, I'm actually getting $70 an hour. And I also still have to acquire this customer, which cost me 20% in some way, which is another $60 off. And we're not considering that in there because we're used to courses where our Costs are nothing other than marketing.
