Short excerpt from a YouTube conversation (Nick Fisher, uploaded Feb 19, 2024) about marketing adoption of new tech. Fisher argues ChatGPT became widely adopted largely because its conversational (SmarterChild-like) interface humanized AI, prompting many marketing tools (e.g., Jasper, Writesonic) to copy the chat interface and pivot to chat-first experiences.

So I guess in marketing terms I bet we're early adapter curve because marketers find out about like NFTs before they really hit mainstream. We're probably a few months away from absolute peak. But when I was pulling trends for just online marketing the most trending term by far is just chatgpt. And this, this tech has been out for a while. I've been playing with it for two years but no one has ever done the smarter child if you guys know from the AOL days like conversational interface and that's what unlocked it for people. It humanized the AI in a way staring at a document.
Just doesn't do interesting. So you think the means of access was the core driver of adoption?
Yes I absolutely think that interface was so innovative that all of the tools that sit up top of it just started copying OpenAI Jasper copied it the same week writesonic copied. Almost everyone went to the chat instantly.
