Here’s how the Breath Fast works

Intermittent fasting prompts mitochondria to clean out damaged parts and multiply. A breath fast, brief periods of reduced oxygen, amplifies this effect. The technique requires proper form to work.

You've tried intermittent fasting, but did you know that there's a way to get all those benefits without changing what you eat? Let's just look at how intermittent fasting works. In your body, there is fuel for your cells and your cellular batteries, or your mitochondria, that is oxygen and glucose. Glucose comes from food. Now, if you take away food from your mitochondria for a bit and give it back, take away, give it back, it tricks your mitochondria into thinking it's running out of fuel. Mitochondria wake up and they start to clean out all the unhealthy mitochondria and start to multiply the numbers of healthy mitochondria. This is what gives you all these health benefits. Dysfunctioning mitochondria is linked to pretty much every single disease. So healthy mitochondria gives you more energy, fitness, stamina, well being, mood, and even helps prevent disease. The other ingredient of the fuel for your mitochondria is oxygen. So if you go on a breath fast, right, where you take away oxygen for a bit and then give it back, take away for a bit and give it back, it has an even greater impact because you go without food for weeks, water for days, but breathing just minutes. So any changes to your breathing has the biggest impact in your overall health and well being. The right way and a wrong way to do the breath fast.
