So I'm going to show you how to do our Soma Awakening technique. This is our most popular technique that has different elements to it which trains you for oxygen efficiency. And it also improves your fitness, stamina, and generally improves your well being. And is a great way to also gain the deep meditative states where you can actually reprogram the unconscious mind very effectively and set intentions.
This technique is best done when you're in a very comfortable position where you're not going to get disturbed. You can sit upright with your back straight and make sure you're not going to fall over and hurt yourself in any way. Or you can do it lying down as well on your back. Okay, so there's some different elements this technique, and I'll talk you through each one of these elements and teach you how to do it. And this technique is a sequence of three different elements. And you may do one or more rounds of this during a typical Soma Breath awakening session. Okay, now in these three videos, you are only going to going to experience a short taste of this. If you really want to go deeper, then go and find a Soma Breath instructor near you on our Finder instructor page on our website. Or you can take one of our courses like the 21 Day Awakening Protocol, which is also run by one of our Soma instructors. Okay, so let's get with it. So the first element is rhythmic breathing. And you're breathing in a perfect rhythm to music with a beat. Okay? And that will have a count to it. So the breath will be counted like this, where I'll say in 2, 3, 4, out 2, 3, 4, for example. Okay. And the in means obviously inhale and the out is exhale. So when you inhale, you want to make sure you're breathing into your belly first, then into your chest. You get a full yogic breath of air. Okay, so what you're going to be doing is you're going to be breathing in to your belly. And you can correct that by putting your left hand on your belly, right hand on your chest. You breathe in.
And remember your lungs are in your back. So you want to expand your belly like this. Not where you're just sticking out your belly. You're actually imagine your breathing into your back and into your belly the same time. And then expanding your chest so it's like this.
And then smooth, consistent exhale.
With no pause between you inhale and exhale. Now if you breathe like this.
Like anywhere, you're stuttering your breath. That's completely wrong. The smooth and consistentness with no pause is key. It's much more important. The rhythm is much more important than the depth. So if you can't do a full breath, don't worry. It's the rhythm that is most important with this technique. So you'll be doing a series of rhythmic breaths. You'll either be doing a rhythm of a 4 in, 4 out, or you might be doing a 4 in, 8 out, or you might be doing two in two hours, just like a faster rhythm. Okay. Then the next element will usually consist of vocal toning or breath retention. Okay. So I'm going to describe each one of these elements. Okay. So the vocal toning is done like this, where you take a deep breath all the way in.
And you make a tone with these three syllables of om aum, where you go a.
And on the humming sound, you can make sure you've got your eyes closed. And you look to your third eye, and you will be able to see these colors and lights coming from your third eye if you've really charged yourself up. Okay. And then the other element would be the breath retention phase. Okay. The breath retention is where the real strong magic happens, the positive stress response. So when you do lots of rhythmic breathing, it allows you to hold your breath for longer and go into very deep meditative states. Okay? So you'll be given a command to breathe in.
Then you breathe all the way out.
You're sitting up. You're going to let your head drop forward, let your chin go to your chest, because that will create this energy lock. Then you hold your breath for as long as you can. That's right. And there'll be a point where you start to get an urge to breathe. You could take a little sip in, breathe out.
Hold it again, and go deeper into a state of meditation until you get this big urge to breathe. Okay? And what you can do then is you can count down in your mind from 10 down to zero. And as you start to get closer to zero, what will happen is you'll start to feel this urge to breathe in, this energy building up the base of your spine. At this point, you take a breath in. You imagine you're taking all that energy up from your spine.
All the way, and you pull it up, and you hold your breath in.
And you hold it. And you can also send this energy up with your intention up into your third eye, your area of your pineal gland. You can hold it there, and then you can hold it for as long as you can. Or you can just hold it for around 20, 30 seconds. That's enough to get that real benefit of that deep inhale and then you make that tone.
To finish again before you move on to the next round. Right? So just to recap, it will be rhythmic breathing to a beat followed by either vocal toning or the breath retention phase where you do the breath holds in a certain way and then the breath hold is always finished on the deep inhale with a tone as well. Then you move on to the next phase. Okay? The entire sequence is guided and it's made effortless with the music. If for any moment you feel like tingly sensations that are uncomfortable, you feel too lightheaded, you feel like you're going to faint, just stop and take a break. But if you really want to go deep with this method, I really urge you to find a Soma Breath instructor. Sit comfortably with your back straight in an upright position. Or you can lie down with your arms by your side, your legs out straight in a place where you will not be disturbed.
Now bring your awareness to your breath as you breathe in. And.
That'S right.
Now bring your awareness to the center of your chest, your heart center.
And smile to this heart center, lifting the corners of your mouth slightly into a soft smile.
Allow this warm, smiling energy to expand as you reflect on all the things in your life that you are grateful for.
Give thanks for the things that we may take for granted.
Food, water, shelter, community.
Give thanks to the earth, the sun, this body, this day.
This chance to move forward towards your goals.
The chance to renew, to improve.
Now carry forth this feeling of gratitude as we begin to breathe in a rhythm.
Exhale all the air out of your lungs to begin.
As we breathe to the beat. 8, 2, 3, 4. Out 2, 3, 4. In, 2, 3, 4. Out 2, 3, 2, 3 4. Out, 2, 3, 4. 2, 3. Out, 2, 3. Smooth on the inhale, smooth on the exhale.
Keeping a consistent rhythm out with every breath.
3, 23 out.
2, 34 out 2, 343234 out 2 3.
Four.
Spiraling energy of gratitude to expand with every breath.
Those good sensations, those good vibrations.
Breathing in gratitude, breathing out love.
Sam in 234-2323. Out. Now we're going to increase the pace of the breath in 234 out faster.
Expanding those feelings of gratitude.
Feeling this electrical charge building up with every breath out.
As we get ready for the Breath Attention phase.
Now fully in.
Fully out with the chant.
Letting all the air out with a little hiss.
As you hold the breath and relax.
Bring your attention to the heart center as you smile and surrender into the stillness, the spaciousness, the peace.
Letting go of all the worry, all the concerns.
Letting go into bliss.
Remember as soon as you feel that first urge to breathe.
Override that first sensation with a saving breath. Take a small sip of air in and exhale.
Returning to the stillness, letting go to bliss.
On this next earth to breathe. Pushing past the comfort zone, overcoming this urge until you can absolutely no longer take it.
Take that deep rebirthing breath in.
As the energy rises up the spine into the midbrain, awakening this higher power as you hold the breath.
Witnessing the light, illuminating, expanding and radiating out like the sun.
Now send this energy out into the universe as you let go with the chant.
Return to your normal breathing.
Feeling this energy that you have created.
Notice the difference in your body and in your mood.
Carry forth this feeling of gratitude as you go about your day.
Remember to smile to your heart to reconnect with this energy whenever you need to.
Much love and positive energy.
Peace.
