This is a YouTube video titled "Therapeutic Uses of Mushrooms - Studies on Severe Depression" containing a conversation recorded on August 24, 2018, featuring Niraj Naik discussing the therapeutic uses of mushrooms, particularly in treating severe depression, with another speaker who elaborates on studies conducted in palliative care settings.
What are the actual.
Therapeutic uses then, of mushrooms? Like, I've seen, obviously, the studies on depression.
Severe depression. It can. Like, I saw one study where I had 80%.
Reversal of severe depression, which is unheard of in other forms of therapy.
Yeah, yeah. I mean, the truth is, is that we have very few studies right now. The main things that have been done is by. I think it's Hopkins, is it Saint Johns Hopkins. I can never remember all the names of all these American universities, but it was in palliative care. Their specific area of interest is palliative care, and I can't remember the exact numbers of people that they'd done trials on. I think a lot of these have been pilot studies, and right now we're in sort of phase 2, 3 clinical trials of the more chunkier, juicier, good numbers of clients and patients. But, yeah, found that just massively reduced apathy, depression, fear of dying, ability to actually stay present with loved ones and enjoy what's left of life despite palliative terminal diagnosis. And just unanimous, really. Even people who have what we would consider a bad trip, being able to work through that in a supported environment with trained professionals and integration work afterwards, finding that actually it was taking them through a darkness that helped them to feel more integrated about the death experience.
