A short conversational transcript from a YouTube video (Niraj Naik and a guest) discussing the potential legalization and clinical integration of psychedelics as part of future mental health care. Speakers argue for regulated treatment centers staffed by trained professionals and link psychedelic therapy to addressing global depression by helping people reframe perception and achieve cognitive self-mastery.

Now I'm very much interested in one day while preparing for the legalization because I do think it's going to come, it's happening and then creating actual centers where we have trained pharmacists, administering, dispensing with a lot, working alongside doctors. Because I think that is the future of mental health care for sure. I mean rather than just locking people away and giving them drugs are just numb the pain. Yeah, but yeah, I think in terms of healthcare in general, I think it's this natural route that we go down, have proper centers and I'm sure we'll be the pioneers of this stuff.
Yeah, it's exciting to be on this wave that got cut short after the 1970s and has re emerged such a timely moment in humanities consciousness because really the World Health Organization says depression is basically the biggest cause of disability worldwide at the moment. And we need answers to this mental health issue. Of course it's societal structures and educational and all and all of that is implicated. But I think really happiness is when your happiness stems from within, when you can have self mastery of your cognitive processes and make good situation out of a bad situation. So really I know there's a lot of external stuff which is going on, which is pretty bad, but if we can sort out how we perceive reality and reframe our lives, then that'll shine outwards and actually help change the world. So that's the work to do right now, I believe.
Amazing. Well, great. Nice to see another renegade doctor doing the work.
