A filmmaker rejects the advice to oversell when raising money, choosing instead to be straightforward about their project. Speaker B agrees that authenticity works better than aggressive tactics.
So I think like I tend to be very like almost like downplayed and chill now when I'm raising money versus earlier on. I remember this other producer tried telling me that I wouldn't be able to raise money or produce unless I was like overselling something and that just didn't feel authentic.
I think that's a really good point.
Yeah, it's a good point.
It's also the tactics that have traditionally worked for, you know, men in these industries don't necessarily fit, You have to understand how you authentically sell as yourself because people understand if you're not true to who you are, it shows so obviously. So I think that's a really great point, Sienna, and to really just understand, again, if you have conviction in what you're doing and you sell that and the reasons why, there's no hype, there's no, you know, faking it until you make it.
