A VC founder explains why he makes videos with 50 views. He's not chasing metrics. He's building a library that reaches founders, shapes his investment thinking, and deepens relationships with the people who matter to his firm.

I run a venture capital firm and I've been creating content on YouTube for the past year and a half about it. I had lunch with one of my investors recently and he said, hey, I watched your podcast with one of your portfolio companies and I really enjoyed it, but it only has 50 views. So why are you making this? He asked it out of such genuine curiosity, but I think one of the most helpful reframes that I've made as a creator is that the content that I make is not optimized for short-term views. It's optimized to build a long-term media library that helps me scale my time And gain more awareness for how I want to run my business and the founders that I look to back. And I think as creators, we often struggle with the short-term metrics of views and watch hours and impressions and click rates, but the real deep connection that we have with our audience is like ultimately what I'm looking for. So curious if any of you who are making videos feel that way too. Also helpful to think about like 50 of those views, but some of them could have been folks that have invested large amounts of money in my fund or potential founders.
