A founder describes learning to hold feedback at arm's length instead of absorbing it immediately. The shift from reflexive acceptance to deliberate evaluation takes time and confidence in deciding what actually matters for your company.
That's been a big learning for me is how to incorporate critical feedback in all its various different content and contexts.
I've always liked the model of, okay, you take feedback like a hug. You get it at arm's length and you pick it up and you decide, hmm, what do I do with this? Do I accept this? Do I need to think about this more before I accept or reject it?
Yeah, I feel like, well, at least when I was earlier on in my journey, I feel like I would just like immediately absorb it. I'd be like, yep, that's what I'm gonna do. Or like, and it took like a while. I think I'm building my own confidence as a like business person to be like, okay, let's hold this at like arm's length.
