So what comes after the iPhone? I might have a different answer compared to much of the tech world right now. The potential for the next wave of consumer technology isn't just with AI companions encased in ambient screenless computers. It's about redressing the ways we as consumers and technologists interact with devices and project our identities and aspirations onto them, not just racing to build with emerging technologies. Or to put it crudely, solutions looking for problems. My curiosity about this topic is the foundation of my MA thesis. I'm assuming Master of Arts. Specifically, I'm looking into how communities can contribute to the innovation efforts of consumer hardware companies in London. But academic papers don't give you much space to explore why.
