A founder should send a written memo first, not a deck. If you do use slides, host them on DocSend ($60/month) to see who reads it and for how long. A personal intro from someone who knows the investor's taste matters more than polished materials.

I think pre-call, I really enjoy when founders send me memos. Like, I think I've always expressed myself best in the written medium, and I really enjoy seeing people's thought processes on building their companies. I think decks are the standard. For any founders listening to it, please put in DocSend. DocSend, if you could sponsor me, that would be really cool, but this is not sponsored by them. I think there's like a standard approach in the industry, which is like DocSend is just expected. And like, yeah, it's not ideal to like pay like $60 a month for it, but I would definitely recommend that. And it also will give you like information on who's looking at your deck and like who's spending time in it. And then on a call, also sometimes like a casual blurb can work from someone that I like have done a bunch of deals with in the past or is my friend. It's just like, and they like know my investment parameters really well.
