Founders face constant rejection in early sales and fundraising. Learning to separate personal worth from a no, and building emotional resilience to keep going anyway, determines whether you survive the early years.
Can you share an example of like an emotional risk?
Probably the most common one is when it comes to doing early outbound sales, the reality of getting rejected, whether you're picking up the phone or sending an email and having to know that and reinforce that the fact that this person is responding does not mean that I am a bad person or I am not good enough. It probably doesn't even mean that that's true about my product or service. But you have to build the emotional tenacity and perseverance to keep doing that. That's probably the earliest place that it comes up.
Yeah, it's an interesting one. I feel like it's quite similar when a founder goes through raising their first round. It's like a lot of rejections.
