Leaky Paywall - Pay Per Post

A short tutorial demonstrating how to enable and configure Leaky Paywall’s pay-per-post feature in WordPress. The speaker walks through installing/activating the plugin, setting a global pay-per-post price and message, enabling pay-per-post on an individual post, overriding global price and subscriber-access rules, and briefly notes a typographical bug in the purchase link text in version 1.

Hey everyone, welcome to Zine 101. In this tutorial we will set up pay per post. Alright, first thing we're going to do is upload the plugin to WordPress. So I've just downloaded it here, gonna install this and activate. Alright, so if we go over to leaky paywall and just going to click on that and gonna go up to subscriptions and we're gonna scroll down to the bottom here and we should see pay per post. Alright, the first option that we have is a global price. So perhaps you would put in in general what you're going to charge on a pay per post basis. So let's just say we're going to do 5 bucks global restricted content message. So this is what's going to show to customers when they encounter a post that requires them to purchase it. So let paywall leaky paywall subscribers access pay per post content if their subscription allows access. So just as that says, if the user already has a subscription that has access to that post, you can give them access without forcing them to purchase that particular post. Alright. And the purchase link we can do buy access. So I'm going to save that. And again, the paper post functionality is a great solution, especially if you have videos or you want to do a live stream that you want to embed into a post, or you have PDFs or any kind of content where you want to sell gated access to and maybe you just don't want to do a subscription. All right, so we have a post. I'm just going to take one of these, for example. There's nothing actually in here, just some text. And we're going to scroll down here to the bottom and you're going to see leaky paywall pay per post. So this allows you to essentially hone in on those settings on an individual post basis. So we're going to enable it for this post. We want to charge people for this. And so our global price we set earlier was $5. Maybe we want to charge more than that. So I'm going to charge 20 bucks for the content. And this option here allows you to override that leaky paywall subscription option. So if your customer has a subscription and they would normally have access to this, this would require them to purchase regardless of the access that they have. So if you want everyone who encounters this to pay for it, this would be the option to select and we can create a message here. I'm just going to leave it at the global setting that we have. But if you want to customize this, maybe talk about the content a little bit. This is video, this is PDF, you know, whatever. You could add that into here. And if I update this, I'm just going to log out here to take a look at what this article would look like to users. Now we see that they have to buy access in order to access this content. One more thing I'm going to make note of here. This is version 1 of paper post, and I did notice that this was spelled incorrectly. So make sure when you're setting this up that you see that purchase is actually spelled correctly, because if it's not, then that link will not work. So something that will update in a future version. All right, that does it. See you next time. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
