Let's look at Leaky paywall from a subscriber's point of view. What we have Here is the SimpleMag child theme for issuem installed with leaky paywall and the article Countdown Nag. Now the leaky paywall or a metered paywall allows you, the publisher, to give away X number of free articles or blog posts per day or week or month or whatever you decide before the subscriber or the reader is prompted to subscribe. Now this lets Google in at all your articles and posts so that when people are looking searching in Google for articles and posts, they'll show up in search and the casual reader can share all your articles and blog posts in social media such as Facebook or Twitter, etc. Okay, so let's take a look at how this works. We have Stripe set up in test mode here and we'll take you through the actual subscribing process. Now what we have here is a current issue. This could be blog posts and you will always be able to see the excerpts of the articles. Now I'll jump into the first article here and need more powerful search for your publication notice. The article Nag came out and said, hey, I have one article remaining. I can subscribe today for full access, but what we're going to do is we're going to go look at another article. So let's click on this article here. The feature thumbnail section Sundays I have 0 articles remaining and then if I click on yet another article I have 0 articles remaining, the screen is grayed out and I can either leave or choose to subscribe. So let's subscribe. The way subscription works is quite simple. Everything starts off with an email login. Whether you're subscribing as a first time subscriber or whether you're logging in as an existing subscriber. All you need to do is drop in your email address so you can have a sales page that says hey, start your subscription or login. You can have your subscription information listed any way you like it. So I'm going to start with my email address, I'm going to click OK and it's going to tell me email sent. Please check your email for the login link. So I'm going to hop over into my email and here I get the link to login. It says log into and this will be your publication. Log into the plugin demo or your publication by opening this link. The link will expire after an hour and can only be used once and all I have to do is Click the link and now I have started the subscription process. I'm going to pay with a card. So we'll click the pay with card. I'm going to give Stripe an email address. This will auto populate as well and I pay. Now I'm successfully subscribed and if I go to my subscription page it'll tell me that I'm a lifetime subscriber. If you are giving limited access, it'll provide your plan information up here and that's it. A word about the two step authentication or passwordless login. What's great about this is in order to login let's say I'm on my phone and I need to when I get in and read the publication all I have to do is drop in my email address and then send the login email and it says please check your email for the login link. And then I will hop back into my email, grab the login link. And just click it. Now I don't have to remember my password. All I have to do is be able to type in my email address on my phone, go to my email on my phone, click the link and I'm logged in and I can read. So you won't get any calls for lost passwords. And you have a more secure authentication system that than the traditional username and password.
