In this instructional video, Speaker A showcases how Harrison Cropper Interiors, a family‑run luxury homeware brand, leverages its founder Lisa as the front‑person on Instagram to build authentic connections with customers. Lisa creates personable video content, such as a step‑by‑step floral arrangement tutorial that demonstrates product use, and signs off each post with a friendly “Lisa with a kiss,” fostering a sense of familiarity. The video also explains how small businesses can replicate this approach—whether a coffee shop or fashion retailer—by putting the owner’s voice and personality at the centre of social media. Additionally, Speaker A highlights the importance of monitoring performance through a social media analytics dashboard, comparing key metrics, hashtags, and influencer activity to refine content strategy. The overall message is that people buy from people, and a founder‑led, data‑informed social presence can significantly boost engagement and sales.

Today we're looking at how being the face of your business on social media can drive connection. This is Harrison Cropper Interiors and it's a family run boutique business based in Lancashire. They've got a boutique feel and they sell luxury homeware, accessories, lighting and gifting, as you can see here. Most of their posts, as you can see, focus very much on showing how beautiful their gifting and homeware is in the actual home. But they grow engagement on social media by bringing their founder, Lisa to the forefront of their Instagram activity by using lots of videos and personalised content like.
This leaves on there as well. But you can get all the stems without the leaves if you prefer. Then I've got the gypsophilia stem in pink for like my filiflower.
Now, now here, what she's doing is she is introducing some autumn florals. She's doing a quick introduction into how to basically take all of the different elements of the flowers that she has and turn it into a beautiful display, which then she would show you at the end. And so this is almost like a sort of top tips guide, if you like. So this is how to make, I guess, you know, the beautiful images that you see here and how to take one of her vases and then some of her flowers and then turn that into something beautiful. So she's basically saying, this is what I do. She's introducing herself, she's giving you a list of all the flowers that you would need to use to create the look, she's showing you how it would look in the end, and she's basically explaining how to use her product. So it's a really, really interactive way of bringing Lisa to the forefront, showing that she's an independent business owner. The how to guide helps you understand the best way of using her products to make your home look equally as beautiful or someone that you're giving the gift to and look as equally as beautiful. And then you'll notice that she signs off all of her content with a little Lisa with a kiss, as if she's talking to a friend or a family member, which gives the real feeling of sort of familiarity and care. So this allows an online business to connect on a personal level with its customers. Any business can do something like this. So whether it's that you are the owner of a coffee shop and you're out and you're talking about the different coffee beans that you have, or whether you are a fashion retailer and you want to show how to tie a tie, you're still promoting your business. But you're doing it with care, you're doing it with love, and you're bringing yourself to the forefront because people buy from people. Now, if I was Harrison Cropper, I would want to go and have a look at my maybe dashboard to understand a little bit more about what's working and what's not for me. So what I would do is you can look at your content so you can schedule in all your content from here and see what's working and what's not. You can reply to comments, to mentions, you can engage in with people who've previously engaged with you to create, I guess, more of that back and forth conversation. And then you've got your main dashboard. So she can look at her best posts on the left and then she can compare herself with any other gifting or homeware business on the right. And then as she goes down she can start to understand her stats versus their stats, what's working for her versus what's working for them, social media hashtags that are working really well, how people feel about them and then who's got influence in the conversation as well. Now, if you've got any questions whatsoever, click on the little blue button. We love to help.
