How getting behind a cause can drive engagement

Neen Park Water Sports posted a duck surrounded by litter to spark disgust and empathy, driving comments. Their hashtag mix of broad tags, location tags, and action tags like #LitterPicking expanded reach beyond followers. Group local attractions together and tag them consistently to build a regional hub and boost engagement.

Today we're looking at how getting behind a cause can be a great way to engage your following on social media. This is Neen Park Water Sports and Activity Centre and they offer a broad spectrum of activities and all are shown in its many, many posts on Instagram. However, this post itself here is very, very different. Here you can see a duck and her ducklings next to a load of litter in the water, showing that people really need to be much more mindful when they're having fun after a few drinks. And what you can see here is that they're asking people to make sure that they take their litter home or use one of the many bins provided. Now, for me, this image itself is so powerful, anybody, whether you are, I guess, you know, interested in nature or not, would. Would be disgusted by this image. And so I think it's a really, really powerful one, which is naturally going to evoke people to comments because it's a kind of emotive subject. And then actually looking at the use of hashtags, so hashtag Wildlife Wadency, hashtag Neem Park, Love Neem Park. And then actually looking at Protect yout Wildlife, Litter Picking and the local. They've got a really good mix of hashtags, meaning that they'll come up in a lot of people's feeds who maybe didn't even know they existed, but it means that they're using a really powerful message rather than just talking about their facility. So a lot of people are going to look at this and think, wow, I really want to visit there when they look at the rest of their feed. And then they would at least really respect them, I guess, for showcasing just how, I guess nasty people can be when it comes to not picking up their lips. So if I was these guys, I would want to be looking at other things in the local area that I could suggest to visitors to do whilst they're there. So I would go on to maybe and I would create a group. So it might be a list of local attractions or local things to do in the area. So all they need to do is simply add in the business here or the hashtag and then they'll start to come up with a group. So, for example, it might be, I don't know, bookshops, for example. So lots of local bookshops. Or it might be lots of local attractions, like there might be a museum, it might be a local beach, for example, and here all of the content for that group. So once they've added them in, all the content for that group would start coming up here, and then they could start liking it, they could start engaging in it, and they might even want to reshare some of the content as their own. But it means that my content will be, I guess, enhanced by the other content being shared by other attractions in the area, because my followers are obviously coming to visit me, and I'm going to get a lot more traction by showing what else you can do in the area as well. So if you've got any questions whatsoever, just click on the little blue button here. Love to help.
