How getting more personal on social media can drive engagement

VDO NI, an accountancy firm, drove engagement by sharing photos of staff at charity fundraisers, tagging the charity, and naming individuals. A listening dashboard tracked followers, post counts, and engagement across platforms to measure what worked.

Today we're looking at how to humanize your business by sharing things close to your heart. VDO NI are an accountancy firm that have done something slightly different for their social profile. They set a series of posts focused on their fundraising. Each year they choose a different charity for the business to fundraise for. Now this post here is wonderful. It focuses on team audit climbing schleet binion for the cause. And this series humanizes the business and encourages the audience to view them as more than just a faceless corporation. So as you, as you can see, they're really conversational in how they do it. And they've got some amazing pictures of their team up the top there, which is fantastic. But here they've done, they've tagged in the charity of the year, which is brilliant. You should always tag them in. They've created their own hashtag so that they can follow all of the different, all of the different members of the teams as they go and they can keep popping up all of their images and they've then given everyone a name. So they've actually like sort of explained and personalized everything so that people know who they are, what they're doing, where they're doing it, etc. If I would to go a step further, I would probably say maybe tag them in, but you know, even just doing this is amazing. And then I've gone into a whole load of detail to tug on the heartstrings. So they've educated people on what they're doing, why they're doing it and why it's so important. And I think it just makes you much more inclined to get behind their cause as well. And then even though on Instagram you're not allowed, you can't do a link, they've still put the URL in there anyway. And then they've even done some little quotes as well from everybody and they've done some amazing hashtags. So I think my main takeaway from this is be more personal. So if you've got a particular cause, you're raising money for something. Just because you're corporate doesn't mean that you have to be corporate in absolutely everything. And I think this just humanizes your business and it would make me much more interested in working with them as an accountancy firm over somebody else, just because you can actually see the people behind the business and that's who you're going to be dealing with on a day to day basis. Now if I was these guys, they're part of a sort of global organization So I would want to be making sure that I was on top of how my social media was performing. And that might be obviously in comparison to other, other firms, but might be some of the other, um, offices that are around the world. So what I would do is go to listening and go to my Insight summary, and then you would click on your business here. But it might be that the actual global organization has everyone in here. And then here you can actually click in and you can view reports, you can view, like, all of your insights, you can view the conversation across all of your channels and you can view your ads. But then you can also go in here and you can look at the total number of followers you've got across everything to pull together for the report. You can do the total number of posts, a total number of engagement. You can do per day, the average number of posts that they've done, average engagement across everything, so you know what's working and what's not. And then average engagement across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram per day. You can do the best post. And then you can even go in and look at your calendar as well. So you could view a competitor's calendar or view your own to see what you've got coming up. So I guess it's really just a really good snapshot of you understanding very quickly what's working, what's not. And then you can go into more detail within the Insight section. Now, if you've got any questions whatsoever, click on the little blue button. We love to help.
