The video explains how Birmingham‑based charity LoveBrum UK uses local hashtags and active engagement to become part of the city’s Twitter conversation and how other organisations can replicate this approach. It highlights the importance of including place‑based tags (e.g., #Birmingham, #BrumWithLove, #LoveBrum, #BrumHour) in both the bio and posts, and of spending equal time interacting with those tags in other users’ content. The presenter also demonstrates how the Maybe social‑media management tool can be set up to monitor and engage with multiple hashtags across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook from a single dashboard, showing how to add a hashtag, filter the feed, and choose whether to engage with all or selected tags. The tutorial concludes with a call‑to‑action to use the on‑screen chat for questions.

In this video, we're going to be talking about how to join in with conversations in your place online, specifically on Twitter. And we're going to take a look at Lovebrum uk, a Birmingham based charity, and how you can replicate their approach for social media success. Twitter is obviously a lively place full of conversations to fit possibly the widest variety of topics you could possibly ever hope to encounter. But because of that, it's very busy and it can sometimes be hard to be heard or to get your content seen. But there are ways and means of actually bringing yourself into conversations. If we look at Lovegram's feed, we can see they're quite literally all about Birmingham, including the name. But their feed is very focused on Birmingham. They present themselves very much as a champion of causes and businesses in and around the city. Now, how they make sure they're part of all the right conversations, but also reaching local people is very much through the use of hashtags and also obviously engaging in those conversations. So if we have a look at their bio, this change is dependent on what causes they're actually promoting. But they've obviously got the hashtag Birmingham, which is clearly their place. So that's a really important one to obviously include in content, but also engage with. But also Bags for Brummies is a cause that they are promoting here, but they include other causes in their bio too, depending on specifically what they're promoting and supporting at that given time. Other hashtags they use are from BrumwithLove and Love Brum. So these are obviously hashtags that join together their conversation and the conversation in their place. So they put post using those hashtags in their content, but they also engage with those hashtags too. And that's really important is to spend an equal amount of time engaging with local place hashtags as it is including them in your content. So if we have a look at their feed, you can see consistently they include relevant hashtags in their content, but they also engage with others who have, have tagged them into their content too. And that's, that's really, really key. They also engage with other local hashtags and Twitter hours like Brumhour. So that obviously helps them to not only reach their followers with their content, but when you engage with other local hashtags like Birmingham or Brumhour, you're reaching other local people too. So obviously that helps you to expand your reach on social media. So what can we learn from Lovebrum? Well, obviously including local hashtags in your content and Engaging with those hashtags is really important and that's something you need to do consistently. But also considering having your own hashtags like Love Brum, or obviously if you're supposed to get supporting a campaign, obviously a specific hashtag for that campaign joins together all of the content about that specific campaign. So that's a really good thing to look to do too. So they do an absolutely great job on Twitter and, you know, I think it stands out that they invest time in creating great content to support local causes and businesses, but also engaging with those conversations too, and engaging with others that obviously tag in their local hashtags. So let's hop over to maybe and see how easy it is to actually add, follow and engage with a hashtag. So if you go into your maybe account under engagement, then engage and then head on, head to group. If you can see here, I've just added Love Brum and I'm going to click that. I want to add this hashtag to the platform. So what this will now do is this will obviously add that hashtag and any content that includes that hashtag into your maybe account. And what it actually enables you to do is engage with content from that hashtag, but also engage with any other hashtags or feeds that you have added to your maybe account too. And it enables you to do that all from one place. So effectively you can engage with all of the hashtags and all of the feeds that you feel are relevant to your business from one place across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. So it's a big, big time saver because obviously it saves you going into those separate platforms and adding the hashtag to look at. Obviously posts that include that hashtag, you can literally do it all from one place. So I'll show you just here, just basically what the results will actually look like. So I'll just add in shop local just so we can see the content. So as you can see, you can, you can select if you want to engage with everything or if you want to engage with just particular hashtags, then effectively you'll see all of the content just here across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. So it's a massive time saver and it's really super simple to use.
