How sharing other people's content can spark engagement

Polly Barnfield shows how local businesses boost social media reach by resharing community posts. Find local content via location filters, add a call-to-action, and reply to every comment. Resharing as a digital business card can generate hundreds of extra interactions.

Today we're looking at how you can share other people's content to spark engagement on your own feed. Dawlish's Ladies Mile involve themselves in many community initiatives, including calls to action to reduce landfill, ensuring any buckets and spades left behind make their way into community toy boxes. A post like this can earn the park lots of engagements, even in the hundreds, as they invite customers not only to like, but to comment with their own ideas. What's great about this post is that they've taken content from another account and then shared it and then asked customers if they think it would be a good idea. Is this something that they should actually do? So they're not only, I guess, you know, sharing someone else's account, they are, you know, supporting the local area, supporting the local beach and coming up with some ideas. And they've also shared, I guess, you know, the other. So they're promoting the account, but then they're also promoting the actual cause as well, to reduce landfill. And then they're also asking their customers if they think that this is something they should do. And as you can see, lots of people have said it's a really good idea. And as you can also see, they've done the great job in that they're actually responding back to every single person's comment, which has earned them lots of extra engagement that they wouldn't normally get. And people have said it's an amazing idea, it's fantastic. So if I was Lady Miles Holiday Park, I would want to be finding other content from the local area and other businesses that I could support and maybe reshare their content. So I would go into maybe and I would choose my location, which is Dawlish. And then I would click on local. You just go into the Engagement and Engage tab. And then this is Dawlish Beach. So again, this might be something that my followers may be interested in, so I can share it, I can comment on it, I can engage with it in some way. Again, anything else, it might be the local Safari, it might be Local Farm, but anything like this, this basically shows me all of the businesses that have strong engagement on social media within the Dawlish area and I can start coming up in their feed. So it's like leaving a little digital business card, so I can start coming up in their feeds, or I could actually take that content and think, do you know what? My followers would be really, really interested in this, so I can actually reshare it myself. If you have any questions whatsoever, click on the little blue button. We love la.
