In this presentation, the speaker explains how sharing the personal stories behind local businesses can strengthen their presence on social media. Using the Discover Halifax campaign for a vintage‑clothing shop as a case study, they illustrate how highlighting the business’s history, inspiration, family ties, and geographic roots—while tagging locations and linking to the shop’s website—creates a powerful emotional link between customers and the brand. The speaker then shifts to practical guidance on monitoring social‑media performance through the platform’s Insights section: selecting the bid filter, generating a full report, and reviewing key metrics such as follower counts across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, total posts, engagement rate, posts per day, engagements per post, and average engagement. They demonstrate how to identify the best‑performing post, use the calendar view to schedule future content, and download comprehensive reports. The talk concludes with a reminder to use the blue support button for any questions.

Foreign. Today we're looking at how telling the story of people behind businesses can support them through social media. This is a Discover Halifax which through the Halifax bid and they've showcased a local business who sells vintage clothes. And they didn't just start by, you know, just sharing some lovely images of the lady and showing off her, I guess, you know, her store, which most people would have. What they've done is they've taken taken it a step further by really talking about our business in the most beautiful way. They've talked about the history behind the business, they've tagged in the area that the business began, they've talked about the inspiration behind our business, all of the different collections, they've talked about her mother in law and they've I guess really just captured the essence of this lady and have captured the essence of the business and which I think is really beautiful. So it really creates a powerful link between the place and the person, the customer and the business. And it shows that. Which I guess showing fashion just simply wouldn't or showing just a simple video wouldn't actually telling you all about it. And then of course putting the links to their website where you can hear more about it just really sort of elevates it as well. And I think from my perspective people buy from people so make sure you always tell their story. If I was these guys, I would want to keep on top of how my social is performing. So what I would do is go to the insight section of the maybe platform and then in here you would click on the bid filter and then what you would do is you can have your own report here. So it would be the full report of all the breakdown of your social media, how it's performing, your hashtags, all that kind of thing. Then you can look here at how many followers you've got across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can look at the total number of posts that you're doing, the engagement rate, the posts per day, the number of engagements per post. You can look at the average engagement across all of your social channels so you understand more about how it's performing overall. You can even click on your best post and you can view your calendar which takes you through to schedule in more content. And what this does is it gives me a snapshot view if I was going to anything and where I had to talk about, you know, how my social is performing. You get a snapshot view really quickly of how it's all working across the channels. And then when you click in here, you can download a full report now. If you have any questions whatsoever, please click on the little blue button. We love to help. You.
