How the right hashtags can drive engagement on your reels

Location and event hashtags like #Edinburgh and #Fringe drive real engagement on Instagram Reels. Visit Scotland used them to promote the Edinburgh Fringe, and tools like the maybe dashboard help you schedule posts, track comments, and measure performance against competitors.

Today, we're looking at how you can use the right mix of hashtags on your reels to drive engagement. This is Visit Scotland, formerly known as the Scottish Tourism Board, and the main aim of the organisation is to market Scotland as a tourist destination. They've got a super strong social media presence, as you can see, and the main focus of Instagram for them is professionally taking photos, highlighting the iconic scenery and attractions that Scotland has to offer. A lot of their posts generate a lot of engagement because people get super excited about them because they're of iconic places and things that I guess evoke some kind of emotion. But one of the great things that they do is they use really good hashtags. And one of the posts in particular that caught my attention was a reel here that highlights the amazing scenery and attractions at the Edinburgh Fringe this year. This shows their connection to local events and the hashtags and the engagement that they've created are actually great. Let's take a look. So it's absolutely phenomenal. As you can see, there are amazing videos and images and clips of the Fringe, just, you know, it's a real sort of, you know, buzzing highlight of the entire event. Then you've got their. And they've tagged in the Edinburgh Festivals, of course, who then are going to share it and they'll have gotten most of the footage from them and then they've got amazing hashtags. So they've got the place, they've got Edinburgh, they've got Scotland, they've got Scotland. Just calling. So anybody again that's going to be using. These are all going to be tourists and people that are coming to the area. Visit Scotland Tales of Scotland. They've just. They've got everything. And as you can see, people really, really, really celebrated it. What would be great is if Visit Scotland could keep on top of these comments and mentions really easily, because you would want to be as engaged as Phys and with all the new people that you've attracted to your feed through these hashtags. So I would go to my maybe dashboard and on the maybe dashboard, you can obviously do things like. Which are fantastic. You can schedule in your content, you can engage with anybody who's previously engaged with you, so you can engage with all of their previous posts. But one of the best things that I love is that you can go back to people's comments straight away on your dashboard. It all comes up here. And then you can also comment back to anybody that's mentioned you as well as anyone that's tagged you in so it might be some of the fringe performers, it might be some of the venues, and it just means that you keep all that engagement going. And then, of course, the great parts of the dashboard are that you can measure your best post against a competitor. So it might be another festival or it might be another sort of visit X or visit Y, and then they can compare all their social media stats. They can see what works for them and what doesn't. They can really start to get a real feel for, I guess, how their social media is performing and why. If you have any questions whatsoever, click on the little blue button. Love to help.
