In this tutorial Polly Barnfield, OBE walks viewers through the basics of engaging on Instagram for businesses and creators. She begins by showing how to discover relevant accounts using the magnifying‑glass search icon, recommending users look for brands, competitors, or inspirational feeds in their niche. After finding a profile, she demonstrates clicking the Follow button, explains that followed accounts populate the home feed (accessed via the house icon), and notes that following more accounts increases the variety of content shown and triggers Instagram’s suggestion engine for similar profiles. The tutorial then covers the core engagement actions: tapping the heart icon to like a post, using the speech‑bubble icon to comment (with an example of commenting on a jeweler‑inspired post), and using the arrow icon to add a post to your Story for sharing. She emphasizes that active engagement encourages reciprocal interaction from others. The video ends with a call for topic suggestions and a brief sign‑off.

We're going to have a look at how to engage on Instagram. So before you start, you actually need someone to follow, obviously. So if you click on the magnifying glass at the bottom, this will give you some inspiration as to who to follow. Or you can actually search for a feed and actually find it this way. So I've just searched for. We are maybe tech, you might look for accounts that will be helpful to your business. So maybe brands that are in your sector or other feeds that you admire and maybe that you aspire to get a similar look and feel on your feed. Or you might follow businesses or organizations whose content you think might be relevant to your followers. Because this is the sort of content that you might look to share on your feed or in your stories. But whenever you find a feed that you want to follow, obviously you find their feed and you literally click on follow. And then what you will actually see if you scroll down on their feed, obviously you'll see all of the content that that feed has actually posted. And if you go back to your home screen by clicking on the house, what you'll actually see then is you'll see the content. So the stories and the content from that feed that you have actually just followed. So the more people that you actually follow, the more content you will see here in home. It's really easy to engage with the content from here, but also as you follow more people, you'll see suggestions from Instagram of feeds that they think you might like to follow. So others that might be similar to the ones that you've chosen to follow already. So when you want to engage, there's different options. So you have the heart just here, which is to like a post. Then if you click on the speech bubble just there, this is where you can actually comment on a post. So this is obviously where you really engage with a post. And this is obviously what you want people to do on your content too. So this post is obviously from maybe. And it's content inspiration for jewelers. So I'm gonna put a. I'm gonna put. This is really helpful. Then you can basically put what, you know, whatever you think of a post, you can actually put it in there. And obviously, if you engage with people, people are more likely to engage with you. If we go back to the post we've just commented on, you can also see this arrow just here. So this is where you can actually add that post to your story. So this is where you can actually share someone else's content. That's something we'll actually have a look at when we look at Instagram stories in another video. If there are topics that you'd like to see more videos on Search Bar and you'll find videos on whatever topics are of interest to you. Hope this has been useful. I'll see you on another video soon.
