How to engage the female pound..think Barbie

Donna Callender shows how brands tap into women's purchasing power using cultural moments like the Barbie film. She walks through tactics like limited-edition products, influencer partnerships, and user-generated content campaigns that connect with female audiences without forcing a feminist angle.

Donna is actually off today but she has kindly recorded or pre recorded she did it yesterday actually the webinar for you so hopefully it won't be anything too different. But I will be behind the scenes if anyone has any questions and things like that. And so I will hit the play button and I hope you all enjoy. Good morning everybody. I hope that you're all well on this lovely Wednesday. My name is Donna Callender. It's lovely to see you all today. I am back again with another Wednesday webinar and today we're actually talking about all things the female pound. So think Barbie and you'll kind of get a rough idea of what we're talking about now. Do not disengage if you are a sort of more male dominated business or brand, it doesn't matter. What you learn is how to go after a demographic and look at how you can engage with them. But you're going to learn that through case studies to do with I guess some of the big topics of conversation so far 2023 and a lot of that actually is geared around females. So without further ado we're going to get into this now. What we're going to cover today is right here on the screen. So Barbie is sold in 150 countries worldwide. Barbie has products in over in over 50 categories including food, fitness and clothing. The Barbie brand is over 99 brand awareness globally. Barbies come under fire actually over the last few years for giving women maybe a more unrealistic body image and showing Barbie mode is a doll that can be maybe sexualized through clothes etc as opposed to a brand that girls can aspire to. So over the last couple of years matte their sales declined massively and they sensed that they needed to move with the times and move in a way that was directed more by women. So what they did was they decided to create a Barbie film. They had it directed by a female and they put 100 million pound marketing budget in it. There has been buses, there has been, there's been brand sort of collaborations. There's been the names of train stations and places change. There was a pink Tardis at London Bridge, there was over 100 I think brand partnerships on makeup, etc. So why did they do that? They did it to resell the same product but switch the narrative. So we're going to talk a little bit about, I guess, you know, what the outcome of that has been and how other brands have gotten on top of that equally. A28, a 2018 survey revealed that over 40% of women in the sporting industry face some sort of gender discrimination. That was just in the UK results alone. And the lionesses changed everything thing before by winning the FIFA Women's World Cup. The support from brands small to large was insane. And then we're back again with the World cup again and they smashed it in the semifinals. There's so many brands getting behind them again equally. We're not just going to talk about those guys, we're actually going to talk about some other brands, small and large, that are focusing really very much on similar thing, but for different reasons. Ultimately it's about the female pound, it's about the power that us women, I guess, have when it comes to shopping, etc. But remember, we're not doing this from a feminist perspective. This is from how to get really strong at social media by harnessing what other people are doing really, really well. So one of the things that you can do is to look for other brands and things that maybe you can aspire to. So you know that on the baby dashboard, if you go on to it, you don't you maybe not always sure what your competitor might be. So to find a compet concerns about other businesses you can look at, you can go into the maybe public group sector on engage and in there you can find these. So literally there's, you know, top councils, local authorities, you can find top food retail businesses, independent etc. National Top Retail businesses. And that is the way that you find the most engaged businesses in a sector. We pull them all together for you. You can let you see how many followers they've got, their best post, you can view their content calendar and you can compare yourself to them as well, so you can add them to your comparison calendar. The reason why you can do that is it means that you can learn from your competitors, you can learn from other people and do exactly what I'm doing today. It's almost like creating case studies where you can, I guess, you know, learn, learn more and get some inspiration. The reason why we do this is because over 79.1% of consumers in the UK spent over an hour, sorry, spent over an hour on social media and we want to connect you guys better with them. And how we do that is we help over 25,000 businesses get more out of social media by comparing their social media performance with any other business. We give you all the social media tools and insights you need to use social media more effectively. And of course you've got the likes of us, you've got training to help you communicate better and on a more regular basis and using the right messages. And we've even got AI now built in so we can physically help you actually create your messages as well. I've got tons and tons to cover today, so we're going to get into this. So as I say, we are looking at how lots of brands over 20, 2023 have really harnessed that female pound aka, really focused on looking at one demographic and really honing in on it. And they've done this in various ways. And we're going to start by talking a little bit about Barbie. So wonder way, we're just going to show you first and then we'll discuss it. Okay, so here she has these jumbo beaded balloons and it's time, it's introducing the jumbo beaded balloon. It's time to elevate your celebrations of the past week. I was given the task to use my beaded skills with a brand new 36 year. She heard me inch Bobo to say I underestimated the task would be too blah, blah, blah, blah. Right. So basically what she's saying here is she was tasked by somebody to create this huge balloon off the back of the Barbie film. And so she has created this massive balloon and I guess she has used the wording from an Eva Max song. So again, like, you know, sort of pop culture. So she's used the Barbie trend to create a brand new product to bring her to bring to her luxury balloon company. So any business can do something like this. So it's thinking about, you know, what is going on in the world right now, how can you relate that back to your business and then how can you either recreate a product or judge it up a little bit? And that's essentially what she's done. She's rebranded something, you know, like there she's already got. And yes, she was challenged to make something bigger, but at the end of the day, she's used something massive and then turned it into, well, quite literally something massive. It's a huge balloon. But she's used and again she's done done that kind of play on it. So she's not done the I'm your Barbie girl. She's done the Eva Max version of she's not your Barbie ghetto. She's living in her own world, which again features more into that kind of, you know, female empowerment thing, which again is really all what the Barbie film is trying to do, which goes back to the reason why they did it in the first place. So when you think about 2023 and in fact, the last few years, that's what businesses are doing. They're not going down the stereotypical, you know, like, sort of like traditional girly route, if you like, what it's comes to female. What they're doing is they're talking about empowerment, they're talking about strong women, Strong, not skinny, you know, all that kind of thing. Embracing your curves, embracing your womanhood, all that kind of thing. So when you're thinking about how you might be able to harness, if you did want to do something off the back of Barbie, and trust me, there's still time, then you can do something similar by thinking in this way is thinking about how you can take, you know, the big pink trend, how you can take the trend. It's not even just a trend, you know, it's just, you know, like, you know, it's the modern world, how you can take, I guess, what modern women, you know, represents to people, what Barbie maybe represents people now. And look at how you can do a spin on that with your own product. So, as I say, this doesn't have to just apply to Barbie or indeed females. This can apply to anyone at all that it's all about looking at what I guess speaks to your audience, no matter what they are, who they are, where they're from. It's thinking about how you can harness whatever is going on in the world to then speak back to your, your target demographic and of course, relate that back to a product. Now, this one I absolutely love. So this is proper corn. And they took the Barbie trend one step further and they did that by basically creating a big corner shop. So, I mean, I'm not saying you need to go and redecorate your shop or your premises or offices or anything like that, right? Pink and start doing something like that. My point is this is about collaboration. So they have, they have taken the power of this huge, huge film and then they've looked at how can we collaborate, what can we work with. Look at what's in there, right? It is, I guess, what you would call, I guess, that kind of stereotypical, you know, girls night out kind of feeler, girls night. And actually, so there was pillow fights going on in there, there was pajamas, all, you know, all dressed up and all wearing pink. It's like, you know, that kind of traditional, iconic kind of vibe. Again, they've gone for the really iconic Barbie vibe, of course, with all the lovely dresses and things like that, which, yes, is all about dressing up and having fun. They have rebranded an existing product, which again, anybody could do limited edition. I've seen whiskey products doing it for, you know, the coronation, for example. There's no difference in that. And again, totally different demographic, but the same reason behind it. You are jumping on the back of a trend. Then there's all the other things it thinks about. Okay, well, what else do people want to do as part of this? What gets, I guess if, if you were talking to a demographic, AKA so say you're talking to like ladies talking to women or anyone else, then what you're doing is you are focusing on what, you know, generally brings everyone together, what gets everyone talking, that kind of thing. This is a spectacle. This gets people talking. And they have worked with an influencer, obviously on it and they have used that to create their ads. So I'm not saying you need to go out and create this. What I'm saying is that this is the power of understanding that times have changed, things have changed and perceptions have changed and everyone needs to move with that. So with that comes, I suppose, you know, a little bit of responsibility, but equally it's about looking at that and going, right, okay, what brings a group of people together? So what's bringing a group of people together here is girls night out or girls night. And that kind of, you know, again, it's not all girls, obviously, but it's, you know, that's the traditional, is what it's called, isn't it? But you know, it is, you know, that kind of vibe, that kind of, you know, girls night out, girls night and kind of feel they've all gotten together, they've done it as a collaboration. Now think about how you could harness that in your place. So if you were to go off the back of the Barbie movie, obviously that would traditionally be, I guess, a bit more like this. You know, you could literally work with your local bar and it could be your local nail salon, your local hair salon. It could be even like your barbers doing cool stuff. It could be your local florist and could do the decoration. It could be in your local bar or restaurant and it could be, I don't know, the local baker providing some really cool little kind of funky snacks. Equally, you could do this the complete opposite way around. They could do it for the Ken side of things. Again, that was that kind of like, that was a whole theme throughout the film. If you've not seen it, and taking completely away from Barbie and thinking about how you might be able to do something like this, it is the same. It's thinking about, even if it's nothing to do with pop culture. And it's just something to do with, I guess if this sparks anything in you, go away, write it down, think about how you can bring it into your content. Because that is honestly one of the most important things. If it sparks a small idea, it should work. There's no reason why it can't work. But the motto of this to me is it's looking at how you can get the most bang for your buck. And that's usually through collaborations, through working together, through rebranding something or repackaging something to match, I guess the big thing that's going on at the moment. And equally it needs to just be something that speaks to your crowd, your people, your followers. This something a little bit different. Don't worry, this isn't all just Barbie guys, but I'm kind of just giving you guys some ideas on how I guess you can capitalize on working with one demographic. To hear what she's doing is she's showing you some Barbie inspired prints and getting camera going. Small biz gift shopping. Absolutely loving the Barbie hype this week. Shame these are only the, the Barbie esque pink clothes I own. Who else feels their Barbie era coming? So basically she, she does these absolutely gorgeous cut pieces of art. I say little, but you know what I mean, like they're, they're very cute, aren't they? They're sweet. And she does, I might have featured her before actually. She does these beautiful artworks and a lot of it is around London, a lot of it's around where she's from. A lot of it's about basically talking to her target demographic. Her target demographic is female. And it's about, you know, buying these pieces of art for their own wall or buying it for a friend or indeed sort of, you know, like gifts and things like that. And what she's done is she's dressed up, up all in pink and, and she has pulled together these cute little pieces of artwork and she's done it herself. She's done it inspired by Barbie. So this is what I mean. She's a small independent artist. She gets, you know, like that's the thing, you know, look at her engagement. And that is because she's jumped off the back of something big. Something big that's going on. And actually if it works for your brand, even if you're not into Barbie, you're not into the whole thing. If you've got a particularly pink kind of brand, there's absolutely no reason why you can't align yourself with this, with this movie. In that way. And just capitalize on it. That's what that's for. And capitalize on it. And then I guess the deeper meaning behind it is equally you would be, you know, it's thinking about, okay, well, what female businesses can you support in the area? And what female small business can you support the area? Are you a female running a business in an area? And actually talking about the fact that, you know that actually, you know, it can be difficult. The good, the highs, the lows talk. I guess it's pulling out the key themes of what's going on in the world right now and then looking at how you can use that to identify with the target demographic that you have in your following. This is kind of something a little bit different. I'm not going to rinse it too much, but just because it is quite interesting. So lush. They don't really do their own social media. Instead what they do is they basically just get influencers to go in and do stuff for them to talk about themselves. So again, as a very different take on social media, but I kind of just want to show you because it's quite interesting. So they actually did a collaboration with Barbie and they got vegan beauty girl who's an influencer. Say, I'm a 10, I'm pulling a bath bomb. And how really fun is this collab? And I really love the perfume in particular, a bit like cherries. And then basically she just did a little reel on it. So I just want to show you that because it might be worth actually just going in and having a little look at how somebody does something kind of alternatively. So again, the power of working with an influencer. I'm not saying that this has to be some, you know, influencer with millions of followers. This could literally be a local mom, for example, if you're like, more like down the mummy market, if you like in your area, who has a decent following on Facebook or Instagram and you say, you know what, I would absolutely love you to go in and review my products, give them, offer them some freebies or something like that. And they're much more inclined to do that. It could literally be that, you know, I don't know, you sell kids uniforms. You know, it's the lead up to the school, you know, the lead up to schools coming back. It might be. So it's nothing to do with Barbie. The point is, is that, you know, they are using the power of someone else to showcase their brand without them having to do it themselves. So it is a very, very powerful tool so do think about who you can work with in your area. It might be a local magazine, it might be local influencer, it might be someone that works at local bars. Just got loads of following and everyone lose their chat. It doesn't matter. The point is, whoever speaks to your particular customers, make sure you use them, make sure you talk to them, make sure that you engage with them. Because if they've got the same kind of voice and they're into the same kind of things, you should 100% be trying to work with them. This is actually really different. So although this is kind of talking about Barbie, it's not. So this is the word fiso. Yeah. And fell sisters. And what they do is this is all about balancing hormones. This is something that we see all the time. Right. Anybody that sells protein drinks, hormonal balance drinks, I think. I think I did talk about protein drink actually last week. I'm sure I. They do this. They show that, you know, somebody pulling together, you know, a shake or something like that. Generally speaking, you. They would like. They normally put the. The recipe in. But to be fair, I mean, they've kind of done that just by showing it in different ways. But what's interesting is that they have basically they've not gone and recreated a whole product or brand or anything. They've gone, right, okay, everyone's talking about the Barbie film at the moment. They've already got this pink drink. They've added some strawberries to make it even more pink. And then they just said, we heard Barbies into balancing her hormones too. Now this is twofold. This is kind of taken us away from Barbie, more into, I guess, what some of the other brands are doing to engage with, I guess, as I say, a demographic. And at this point it's the female market. But ultimately think about where your customers are at in their life. So if you are targeting an older demographic, especially female, then they're going to be talking about a completely different thing and be interested in different things and have a completely different pain points. We always talk about pain points when you talk about marketing in comparison to your younger demographic. So if you're targeting the younger demographic, it might be more about girls nights out. It might be about relationships, breakups, makeups, friendships. It might be about finding new jobs, all that kind of stuff. With the older demographic, it might be things like emptiness syndrome. It might be things like, I don't know, feeling fit after 40. It might be things like looking after your hormones. And that's what you get quite a lot of it is A lot about hormone balance and things like that. So then all they're doing is talking about, as you can see, they do this already and then they're just adding Barbie into it. That's it. That's as simple as it needs to be. I'm not saying you have to go out and rebrand your entire shop. I'm not saying you have to do anything to do with Barbie. What I'm saying is if there's a big thing going on at the moment and you think, actually I could just capitalize on that a tiny bit, then do it. It makes total sense. So it's again, meeting people where they are thinking about, they're thinking about where people are at in their lives and then how you can create content that speaks directly to them without, I guess, going over the top. So, yeah, really super, super simple stuff, guys. And look, lots of people going, yes, please. Oh, I need this. Can you drink this protein powder while be pregnant? Tagging people in. It just works. So speaking of this, this is a completely different superfood drink. Now these guys were actually, they were on Dragon's Den, I remember I've actually bought their products before because I saw them on Dragons Den and I really got into their whole thing. So these guys are called real superfoods and basically they make like, as you can kind of guess, superfood smooth like blends, if you like that you put in drinks. Now they tend to focus on females. It was a male and a female founder, founders, they created it, I think when they were at university. But it was all based around one, it was around the story. And the story was the girl had Crohn's disease and she really, really struggled with it. And so she started trying all these different superfoods, etc. And it really, really helped with her symptoms. So off the back of that they've created all these products. Now that's the backstory too. And I've explained that so that you can understand this bit. So they've not gone down the Barbie route or anything like that. Theirs is actually more about meeting people where they're at in their lives and about reframing the, the reason why you would use one of their drinks. So here we. This is basically the pov. Taking a moment to relax and read and enjoy your daily greens is part, is key part of your self care routine. Have you tried making your clean greens with lemon, cucumber, lime, honey and mint? It's given us real mocktail vibes. And then they've tagged in the girl who did it. So this is gold. And the reason why is because it's adding value. So they know that they're targeting people who ultimately one of the probably many reasons why people take superfoods etc, especially drinks is because it's easy and they can just chuck it in a glass or chuck it in a jug or you know, chuck it in their shaker and then off they go. And so they're busy people, busy lives. Especially if they're targeting you know, like a sort of female audience, especially the target female audience of a certain age who are like busy. They might be moms, they might be running around or they might be older, but either way it is about taking a minute and self care, which is something that we all talk about, about filling your own cup, etc, and again that's huge in that kind of like female marketing, you know, like sort of space. And I'm sure many of you guys will have talked about this before, you might even do it yourselves. But it's through meditation or anything, anything like that. Everybody talks about self care routines being so important. So they are just, just selling their products here. What they're doing is they're selling a lifestyle, they're sell, they're selling a, you know, someone actually having the guts to take a minute to themselves, read a book and have basically, you know, the equivalent of a, you know, a little mocktail or something like that. So they're telling you how to make it, they're showing you, I guess, the value that it would add into your life. And they're meeting people where they're at, which is generally that everybody's looking for an easy way to create five minutes in their day to have a bit of self care. That's not just the, as I say, you know, the female market, I'm calling it the female market, but it's not. But that's one way of doing it. Now think about that. If you were to do it in a completely different scenario, think about that. If you were focused on, I don't know, it might be one of a male dominated sport or it might be that you are looking at the older generation, for example, you're talking to grandparents, you know, that would be a whole different thing. So the sort of self care idea would be different to everybody. But self care is a massive, massive, massive piece in terms of particularly 20, 22, 2023. So if you really want to talk to people about your products and really engage with them where they are, everyone's trying to find a minute in their day to sort of you know, feel peace and calm, doesn't matter male, female, whoever you are. And it. Everybody is trying to look after themselves a little bit more. People are much more conscious about things like super boots, all that kind of stuff. If you're doing any that think about how you can create recipes, how you can, but not just create the recipe, but how can you show that vision about, you know, that is idyllic. That is what everyone wants to be sitting doing for five minutes. You know, that is. It gets you in the feels is what I call it. But, you know, it captured me, makes me go, oh, my God, I really, really want that. And as you can see, it's got some really good engagement. So just think about that when you're thinking about, you know, when I say harnessing a demographic. But that's kind of what it is. It's kind of meeting people where they're at. Most women that I know, in fact, most people that I know are struggling for time. We're all, you know, people are struggling with money, people are struggling with lots of different things. Everyone's looking for a minute to go and breathe. Find ways through your Instagram or your Facebook or Twitter or anything like that of showing people how to do a thing like that through your products. Enoch so this is slightly different. And the reason I'm showing you this is because this is about meeting people where they're at at, no matter where they. Where they're at in the world, I guess, or, you know, what they're doing is kind of bringing together a common theme or common value. So I won't even really need to go in into it too much, really. But this is, I guess, them pulling together, you know, like, basically like a quote from someone. And Peanut is sort of dedicated to moms, mums who've had, you know, like maybe a difficult pregnancy or want to have like a more product. Productive pregnancy or better pregnancy, healthier pregnancy. Production is not the right word. And basically here, what they're trying to do, they're trying to engage with women. Where they're at now, they're engaging with you, I guess. You know, it's postpartum, so it's after you've had a baby, and what they're trying to do is reach the masses, trying to get something that will make people want to tag. This is what this is about. This is about tagging. So. So it's one of the hardest things we have to realize about motherhood is that we are evolving alongside our children. The postpartum version of you is different from the toddler mum version of you. The toddler mum version of you is different from the version of you with school age children and the growth continues. You're constantly finding new versions of yourself. It's not always easy to be gentle with yourself, just like you're gentle with them. So and then it says you're constantly finding new versions and then it's adapted beautiful words from and then the tagged in the person that comes and honestly, people have loved it it, they really, really loved it. And the reason why is because they found, I guess, a quote. You can find a quote, you could find an affirmation, you could find song lyrics, you could find something and if it speaks to you, it will generally speak to other people. And if it speaks to you and you are a similar type of person to I guess who you're trying to target, then use it. Use the quote, use the affirmation. This isn't about, as I say, you know, like the female pound or anything like that in this book. This is me saying that I guess if you're trying to target people who are all similar, AKA the you know, similar buying, you know, reasons to buy, they've got similar lifestyles etc, so you're targeting a certain, you know, whether it's a demographic or lifestyles or anything like that, what brings people together is it's quotes, it is, you know, throwbacks, it is lyrics, it is, you know, famous, famous movie scenes, anything like that will get people targeted. That's what this is designed to do, is talk to a lot of people to get more of those people to tag in more of those people. Someone who needs to hear that, someone needs to hear that is more likely to then tag in someone who also needs to hear that. So that's what this is all about. I always tell you hit people in the funnies or hit people in the fields with your social media and that is how you engage, that is how you. And this is kind of my point about that. 2022, 2023 it is all about meeting people where they are being more upfront and honest about people struggling because it is, there's the days are gone of everything being all Instagram Fluffy is actually about being real and seeing the humans behind brands. And now this very much talks to the humans that you know, they want to target, I guess in terms of, you know, their products and things. And then we've got the lionesses. So again, absolutely massive. I said to you guys in the beginning of the webinar, this is huge, huge, huge. So, so you Know, in fact, it couldn't be any bigger, to be honest. So I guess for me, and what they've done here, and this is the news movement and what they've done is they have got. They've got a clip of one of the main women in football right now, Alicia Russell from the England team. And actually, this is all about, I need to eat a lot more than I thought I did. I want. I don't want to be skinny, I want to be strong. So this is a clip. It's about how she's spoken about her struggle with her body image and food during lockdown and an interview she did with Women's Health else. And then. So this isn't them, this is the news movement talking about an interview she did elsewhere. She spoke about competing and being the best on the pitch, but also, you need to look a certain way. She's 24. She was off to Australia, obviously, in July to be in the Women's World Cup. Be sure to share this post if you love her. So this is great because it says England footballer speaking about her struggle with body image during lockdown. Most people, male women, whoever, anybody, can identify with having body image issues at some point in their life, some more than others. This speaks to the masses, but in particular, maybe a lot of females during lockdown, right? It probably does. So what's great about this is if this is a famous athlete who's, you know, won a World cup and going into something else, you know, is at the peak of her game, only 24, and if she's worried about it, it immediately makes you sigh and go. It makes, it makes it okay to talk about. It makes it not a taboo subject. So think about how, again, think about all the publicity that's going on with the lionesses just now. Think about the. All the, the female movement in sport thinking about equality in every way, shape or form, whether that's race, whether that's religion. Think about it. It's. It's so topical. It's something we're all talking about on a regular basis, whether it's with your kids at school or whether it is talking about it and, you know, in worker on Instagram or social media generally, it is huge. So if you see something that speaks to you 100, make a comment on it 100% share it, because, trust me, that is how you will get engagement and that's how, again, you will show the human, the people factor, the people behind your business, that is how to engage with a particular demographic. You find something it doesn't matter whether you find it on Sky Sports or, you know, and it was about, I don't know, like rugby or whether it was about pool or whether it was about, I don't know, like something that you read that some teacher did in Devon. And I mean, I made that one up, but you know what I mean guys, my point is, is that if it speaks to you, it will speak to your people. And if your people are following you, you want more of those people to follow you. And when I say your people, I mean, you know, I mean, you know, if you could fit people in a nice little box, which people don't. But ultimately we've all got similar traits, we've all got a lot of similar buying behaviors etc. So when you kind of have a, you know, a pool of people, you want them to bring more of those people in. And generally speaking, you're similar to your friends, aren't you? So, so that's what I mean by this. It is important, it's an important subject. It's something that speaks to pretty much everybody and it's already out there. So you're just taking something that's already out there in an interview or that you've seen on a poll or you've seen on Instagram somewhere and then you're just reshading it and talking about it yourself. So you basically are harnessing someone else's content. But it works. So you can always tag in whatever you saw it and then you've got like the lights of Marks dispenser that is done this, this. So this was them. And basically what they've done is they created a three part series, this or that with England's lionesses to show the range of different styles and shapes they fit. I'm not actually going to show you it because you can go in and have a look at it yourself. But essentially what they've done is they've got three different types of trousers and they have, they have asked, in fact. Oh, do you know what? I will show you, I will. They've gone in and they've done this little video. See if this works guys. Wide leg or straight leg? There we go. So this, the power bit of this. Oh, sorry guys, give me a second. Just click off. That always happens with videos on Facebook. Sorry, they just keep going. So with Marks and Spencers, what they've done is they've just asked an opinion. They don't get wrong. They've got the lionesses and that's incredible. But all this is, is asking an opinion. People love Giving opinions on social media. So again, when it comes to your people, your demographic, whether that's, you know, I don't know, moms, grandparents, whether that is, whoever it might be, when you're talking to your people, talk to your people and ask their opinions, whether they like this or that, whether they prefer this, this or this. What's their favorite out of this film and this film, what is their favorite movie? What's their favorite song? It doesn't matter what you ask them. People love giving opinions. So show that in a video. So literally, it could just be you putting three products together. It could be three people all wearing the same dress and you're kind of talking about the fit. It could be three different dresses. Which ones should we wear tonight out to buy, you know, anything like that? Trust me when I tell you, if M and S are doing it, it is worth it. So in particular females and fashion, it is a really, really good one. People love giving opinions on it and then finally celebrating things. So this is just Debenhams and this is. The lionesses are through to the Women's World cup final. They won the Euros, but will they be able to take home the trophy on Sunday in the final game against Spain? This is absolutely massive. So obviously, this is the World Cup. They won the Euros. And this, for me, is huge because this is just a brand celebrating them and talking about what's going on in the world. There is nothing wrong with you whether you are a Cathy or whether you're a massive brand, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with you doing exactly what David have done, exactly what they've done, which is celebrating what's happening. And again, it doesn't matter whether it's the lionesses or it's something else that's going on, or it might be someone's had a baby. People love celebrating things on social media. And again, thinking about your demographic, thinking about the people that you're talking to, if you want them to come and buy from you, you. You need to connect with them where they are. You need to connect with what makes them tick. People love celebrating things. People love getting involved in conversations and going, yes, yes, yes, I love that, blah, blah, blah. But in particular, if there's something in your business worth celebrating, please do, please do, please shine a light on your people. Because if it's someone's just as a baby, someone's got married, someone's, I don't know, ran a marathon, someone's done something that's really cool, talk about it, because people will love, love, Love to celebrate. Honestly, it is huge. Huge. So when you're thinking about everything from all of this that I've talked about. Yes. I've started off by kind of talking about, you know, you know, harnessing the female power, etc. And the female pound the power of it. It's not just about that. It's about taking the ideas and the ideals behind it and the what all these brands and all these people have done and then how you can adapt that to your business and the people that you are trying to basically buy your stuff. So one of the best ways that you can do that is to plan ahead with your content. And every week I go through the different sort of national days and national campaigns that are coming up. And one of the best ways of finding content is actually by looking at national days and things and how you might be able to shape some content around it. So we're going to look at September because we're almost in September now. And I'm going to go right down towards the end of September and see what national days we have and then come up with some ideas for you. Guys. Guys. Okay, Absolutely brilliant one. I'm already in it. I can see social media going crazy for this. On the 28th of September, it is Ask a Stupid Question Day. 2023, right? I'm sorry, I think we should just run this as a campaign, guys. Anyone that's on this, right? But we 100% should ask a stupid question. Date is the perfect day to all those ridiculous things that you've maybe always wanted to know. And you know, have you ever heard that thing of I was today, I was today days old when I found out this. Right? You know, when like you find out some life hack that you're going, how on earth did I not know that? I can't believe I've not known that. And I'm, you know, whatever age, this is the perfect opportunity. So you can ask two things. Do polls on social media and either post ridiculous questions that you've been asked or post some questions that you've always wanted to know the answer to and you've never known or, you know, ask people to put down in the chat or put down in their own dms and then you can turn it into stories or, or go out and literally one of the things I talked about last week was asking people directly on video. Ask people who come in, you know, it's ask a Stupid question day. What's the silliest thing you've ever been asked? Asked anything like that will go Down a social media storm. So again, this isn't something serious, this is something fun. We've got International Podcast Day, that could be interesting. So that is celebrating podcast. So why not talk about your favorite podcast? Why not share your favorite podcast? Why not get people ask asking people what their favorite podcasts are? Again, it's really good way of harnessing opinions. It's a good way of people sharing stuff. It's a good way of engaging. Facebook's a really good place to do stuff like that because you can do again like little polls and stuff on your actual feed rather than obviously in stories. But again, if you want to do it on Instagram, you can do it in stories and then you could then feed back. Well, you know, I don't know our favorite, the favorite podcast voted by, I don't know, 70% of our people was this. And again, I'm not saying you have to be a podcaster. I'm saying that it's just it again is connecting people where they are bringing together people to talk about a thing. Yeah, it's just a really, really good one. Guys, Guys. So again, those are just a couple. But if you go into the maybe platform, all of these things are there. They're all sitting there in the content calendar under and you will have them all, all the dates ahead. So you will see all the days before you might want to celebrate one that's already happened. And you can totally do that or ones that are coming up after. And remember, we've got all the tools and support that you need. We give you, you can schedule, you can advertise, you can do reporting, you can learn from any competitor at all. And then you've got the your rest of of us. So literally on a Monday you can learn how to use maybe. So it's just a drop in session like this. Tuesday, social media basics. Wednesday you have me Thursday, Friday, ads for beginners and advanced ads. And then you've got all the on demand training. You've got literally hundreds and hundreds of videos that me, myself, like the rest of the team have all made for you guys. Little bite sized chunks on how to do a thing or case studies so you don't know how a baker smashed it or on reels or something like that. And then you've got unlimited and expert support as well. So to round it all up, use things like trending audios and things like that to boost your wheels. You see that a lot of them use the Barbie one. Barbie one's massive at the moment. You literally just go onto the wheels and then you just save the trending audio. I've showed you it before. Again, if you're not sure how to do it, click on the little blue button and just ask and maybe and one of us will help you use kind of trends in fashion or movies or pop culture to look at boosting your product. So again, it's looking at how, you know, they harness that with balloons, how they that with obviously the shop, but it's thinking about them. What else is it around? So what is like the Barbie film is not just about that. It was about celebrating, you know, sort of like female empowerment, etc. And what did that, what does that mean to people? So it's thinking about, you know, all the different pockets of that. You could work with local inverse who speak the same language as your customer. And I don't mean obviously literally, but that would help. But, you know, they've got the power. They speak, they say, you know, they talk about the same things, they've got the same kind of messaging. So, you know, harness that. Talk to your customers about their problems and meet them where they are. It is super, super important to meet people where they are. So thinking about, you know, we talked about horror hormones, we talked about babies, we talked about postpartum, talked about, you know, it could be about jobs, it could be about, I don't know, childcare, it could be anything. It could be that you want to talk more to men and for example, about men's mental health. Loads and loads of things that you could talk, talk about. But it is, it's about meeting people where they are. And what do you identify with, what stops you schooling? Because if it stops you schooling and you're targeting the same sorts of people on Instagram, use that, use the content that's already there. If it stops you in your tracks, you can use it to stop them in their tracks. Capitalize on the big topics of conversation that are brought up by influential people. Think back to lionesses and talking about food and body image, etc, that is massive. It's already a big topic, but they're making it less of a taboo by having a famous person talk about it. So why not use that in your content? Why not? You say, I saw this here, it really made me feel a certain way. Let's talk about it. Use it as part of a campaign and then ask for opinions. People absolutely love it when it doesn't matter who you're targeting. Ask for an opinion, they'll always get it. As for A or B, yes or no, left or right, remember if you haven't set up your account again, set up your account today and get started by learning from lots of other brands. Look out for an email from us tomorrow and it will be you can book and obviously to come in another training session. You will see what doing we're up to in maybe you will get some good case studies, loads of great social media inspiration and then that's it guys. I think so we help businesses get more out of social media. My name is Donna. It was really, really lovely to see you all and I really look forward to being back next week where we've got so many more amazing case studies for you guys and we're going to be talking about lots of great stuff. So I hope you have an amazing rest of your week and any questions at all. So please again as usual and just pop it on the little blue button on navy and it will come back to us and I will see you guys soon. Thank you.
