In this instructional video, the presenter analyses the Instagram profile of a business coach known as “Social Mums,” who supports mum‑entrepreneurs. She demonstrates how to attract engagement by using bold, bright visuals paired with captions that directly address the audience’s pain points—such as the struggle of running a small business without a clear strategy. The video breaks down the formula: a relatable, hard‑hitting statement, a caption that explains the problem, offers a concrete solution, and includes a clear call‑to‑action with a link in the bio. The presenter then outlines a tactical approach for expanding reach: following and engaging with niche‑specific hashtags (e.g., #mumpreneurs, #socialmums, #mumsinbusiness), creating or joining hashtag‑based groups, and actively liking, commenting, or recreating posts within those tags to drive discovery and conversions. The overall message is that by pinpointing audience frustrations and providing immediate, actionable value, small‑business owners can boost social‑media engagement and attract clients.

Today we're looking at how to hit people's pain points on social media and why that can drive engagement. This is social mums and as you can see, she is a business coach and she does a lot of training and support for basically mums who need to be on social media. So it might be through, say network marketing, it might be as part of, you know, an independent business owner, but basically she understands people's pain points, she really understands her niche audience and then she wants to talk directly to them. So as you can see, everything is pink, everything's really bright and she focuses very much on, I guess, how she can help people. Now this, what she did here. So social mums, what she did here was her image is really powerful. So here it says running a successful small business isn't down to luck, it's down to hard work and perseverance. So that itself would make you think, oh, okay, that's really hit me somewhere. Yes, I'm really, really struggling at the moment, for example. So that itself is hard hitting enough. Then she goes in on her caption to say, this is so true. Working out what works and what doesn't and not giving up when things get tricky is really important and then she gives the value. So that's all about having a plan, your social media presence, you know, how can you stay focused on social media? How can she support you with your social media journey? How can she help you with your content? If you haven't got your strategy for your small business? We'd love to work with you to create one head to link in the bio. So she's very, very clear on actually this is what people struggle with. This is how she can help you. So it is really about having like a bright, relatable statement that hits the small business owners where it hurts in order to bring them to the caption to read more and find out what they have to offer to help. The caption tells you what you need, why and how they can help you and then all the information as quickly as you need it. Now if I was her, what I'd want to do is I would be going to, I'd want to I suppose be following as many hashtags as I could that were anything to do with female business owners, entrepreneurs, social media strategy, that kind of thing. So I would go into, maybe I'd go, going to create a group so you would start adding in businesses or you could start adding in hashtags. So maybe hashtag mumpreneurs, it might be hashtag social mums. It might be hashtag mums in business, for example, those would be the ones that they would be using. And then you add them into the hashtags. And then basically here you would have a list of all the hashtags that you would add in. And then you can start to engage within the hashtag, so you can start to like, you can start to comment, you might even recreate a post to do with those hashtags. But essentially what it means is, is that you're engaged within a hashtag, which ultimately signposts people back to you who wouldn't have found you otherwise. Now, as always, if you've got any questions at all, click on the little blue button. We love to help.
