In this commentary, the speaker examines a social‑media post from Johnson Smiley Accountancy’s Charitable Trust, which promotes a repeat participation in a Business 5‑aside football tournament to raise funds for the Charisbow Trust. The analysis highlights how the post combines a clear call‑to‑action, team‑focused imagery, and transparent fundraising mechanics (sponsorship‑driven donations) to simultaneously showcase the firm’s community commitment, boost its brand visibility, and publicise the charity. The speaker argues that this approach effectively demonstrates the business’s local pride, encourages engagement, and positions the company as an integral part of the Edinburgh community while supporting smaller charities.

Today we're looking at how to promote your cause related work on social media. This is the Johnson Smiley accountancy, which are based in Edinburgh, but this is actually in their Charitable Trust page. And what they did was they set up a charitable trust to fundraise for small local charities, which is a really good way of getting a bunch of businesses together and fundraising and, you know, giving back to the community. So one of the things that I absolutely loved is this post here. So here it says, Johnson Smiley are returning to the Business 5 aside football tournament for the second year in a row to raise money for the Charisbow Trust. Eight of our colleagues will be putting their best feet forward on the 17th of March to make the final and clinch a bumper donation for our charity. They were saying what they did last year, so clearly this is them being back. They're saying that every penny raised goes through sponsorship, goes directly into the trust. So, you know, it's always going to be there and it goes to support, support smaller charities in need of funding and then there's a call to action. So it tells you what to do. So it's just a really good way and I think just having the team there all happy and smiling and clearly, you know, having done a really good workout and it's a really good way to show their sense of community and pride in what they do. And sharing their own post, I guess, publicizes their business. It publicizes, you know, the charity, it publicizes what they do and shows that they really do truly have, you know, the community at the heart of what they do, which, you know, as a business in a city like that, you know, they really need to be shown that they truly are, I guess, you know, part of the community.
