How to show your ethics and values effectively using social media

Organizations can show their values on social media through thoughtful imagery, narrative, and hashtags. Cambridge University's Black History Month post demonstrates this approach, using a formal dinner photo to signal commitment to diversity and attract prospective students. A content calendar helps teams schedule posts ahead, freeing time for engagement.

Today we're looking at how to show your ethics and values effectively using social media to connect. Now here we've got Cambridge University and as you can see, they're always looking at their students, have always got them engaged. They're always talking about things that I guess will support them on social media. Now what I really liked about this post is this is about dinner, a formal dinner that was hosted celebrating Black History Month. So it says that over 250 students were gathered together in celebration of black talent and excellence at Cambridge with inspiring speeches from some of the invited guests. Now what's great about this is it gives an insight into what the university is working on. B It gets people talking about a subject which was huge in that month. So it was Black History Month and it was something that was talked about by nearly every brand, every business across the UK and beyond. And it's something that everybody should be talking about. And it shows you that it's incredibly important to Cambridge University, which obviously means that if you're thinking about going there or if you are part there already, then it's a conversation you should and can be getting involved with, but also might make your mind up about whether to actually go there based on what, what they're actually celebrating and what they're actually focused on. And the fact that they're showing that on social media in such a big way is amazing. So the image itself is fantastic, phenomenal. It really shows how beautiful the event was and it shows you, you know, that all of the, I guess you know that, you know, they didn't pull out any stops when it came to celebrating this. And the hashtags are great. So it's hashtags that obviously anybody who's following the Black History Month would be looking at as well as obviously the local hashtags and the actual university hashtags as well. And so it means that new people are going to come to, to Cambridge University based on these hashtags. So it's kind of like a digital signpost back to them, but it really gives us an insight into stand for and it shows that they allow students to express themselves, they allow students to get behind a cause and that they're not afraid to do so. Now if I was the University of Cambridge, what I would want to be doing is to make sure that if I could be posting more content and getting more engaged, so I would go to my maybe platform, go to content and go to content Calendar and in here you're able to look at all the content that you've got scheduled in for the week ahead. You can also look at any paid ads that you've got in there. But it starts to have have a look at, you know. Right, okay, I've got this scheduled on Twitter. I'm at scheduled on Instagram. What does that look like? You know, are there any issues with any of it? What's working, what's not? And then you can start to go in and add posts as well. So you can add posts really, really quickly from Content Calendar, so that then again, they can, you know, add their posts in for the week. And then they can use the time allocated. Instead of having to write posts every day, they use that time to engage, which is what it's all about. Now, if you've got any questions whatsoever, click on the little blue button. We love to help.
