How to showcase your team behind the scenes to drive interest on social media

Theatre Royal Plymouth filmed lead dancer Katrina Linden introducing herself as Princess Aurora in a casual behind-the-scenes video, then engaged local audiences through location tags and direct comments. The strategy works because people buy tickets when they see the humans behind the show, not just the show itself.

Today we're looking at how to showcase your team behind the scenes to drive interest on social media. So this is the Theatre Royal in Plymouth, and as you can see, they're very active on social media, but actually this isn't just about them, this is actually about the show. And what this is about is the brand new debut Alert. This is the wonderful Katrina Linden and she's her debut as Princess Aurora in her hometown of Plymouth tonight. And she recorded this lovely message to her Southwest fans outside the beautiful Theatre Royal Plymouth. So this is basically like the people that are publicizing the show and what they've done is they have got the lady who's starring in it, and obviously because it's her hometown, it just has that kind of like, I don't know, that kind of personal feel, that added value. And they've obviously tagged in the Theatre Royal Plymouth, which is fantastic. And I guess what it does is it makes it feel personal. It's lovely to welcome performers back to their hometown and it makes the theatre feel more welcoming and more personable as well. And I think it just kind of creates a bit of an intrigue for the show. So let's have a little look at what she's saying.
And I'm a dancer with new adventures. I'm so excited to be here performing in my hometown. And tonight is a really special night for me because I'm making my debut as Princess Aurora, which is so exciting. Hopefully I'll see some of you here tonight, but if not, make sure you book your tickets and you can follow the link below. But otherwise, wish me luck.
Hi, everyone. So, wow, isn't that stunning? So it's, I think, you know, you've got the very theatrical bit at the end, which shows obviously the beautiful dancers and how incredible it's going to be, but I think that her there, you know, like seeing her just in her cardigan and her jeans, is very personable, very, you know, just feels like a local girl that's just doing really, really well. And there's something lovely about that that would definitely make me want to go and click to find out more and to look at, to look at booking the link in the bio, I just think it's really, really sweet and I think it's just such a nice idea and I think it's something that, you know, tagging in the performers themselves as well is really good. So they've tagged them in because they're saying that, you know, she's Aurora and Stephen Murray is Leo and they've tagged in both of them, which, again, they're naturally going to respond back to that. And again, that more personal because, like, you know, you're not just going to watch ballet. You're going to actually watch, you know, two performers that you kind of now recognize and you, you know, a little bit, and you really want them to succeed. So I think that all in all, any business could do something like this, or any theater, any. Any show, anyone could do something like this. It's actually just about giving people a bit of an insight into the human side of your business or the human side of your show, you know, the background of it. Because I think that really helps drive that connection. Now, if I was these guys, I would want to understand a little bit more about what was going on in my location, because the more that I engage with people in my location, the more that people are going to be interested in coming to me. So if I was the. The group, obviously that was publicized in the ballet, or indeed if I was the theater Plymouth, the Theatre Royal Plymouth, what I'd be doing is I would go into the maybe platform, went to location, put in Plymouth, and then what starts coming up for all the businesses that are getting a lot of engagement on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And what I can do is I can start liking commenting. I might want to maybe, I don't know, repost, I might want to retweet. But basically what that does is I start coming up in their conversations and then they're more likely to start coming up in mine. Because guess what, if you are interested in the local bakery, you might also be interested in buying tickets to the theater as well. Now, as usual, if you've got any question whatsoever, click on the little blue button. We love to help.
