In this instructional video, the presenter highlights how a Bradford small‑business, Kathy Liza, leverages local hashtags and location tagging to attract nearby customers on social media. By adding city‑specific tags such as #Bradford, #BradfordUniversity, and #BradfordCollege, the posts appear in feeds followed by local users, driving foot traffic. The speaker advises all small businesses to adopt similar local hashtag practices across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, noting platform nuances (e.g., Instagram benefits more from hashtag discovery tools). They demonstrate how to use built‑in “Engagement & Recommended” features to surface popular, relevant hashtags, listen to conversations, and engage with the community. The overall message is that strategic, location‑focused hashtag use combined with platform tools can significantly increase a business’s local visibility.

Today we're with one of Bradford's Green street pioneers, Kathy Liza, and we're looking at how hashtags can make all the difference to being visible on social media. As you can see here, Kathy Liza posts simple but effective content on social media, generally letting their food speak for themselves. But what I absolutely love about this post is not only have they used their typical deliciously tempting photos, and they've given the kind of description that they regularly give, which is basically just given the ingredients and what's in the actual sandwich. But what I noticed here was that was the hashtags. It was the local, really effective hashtags and tagging in that they were in the city of Bradford. Now, what this does, it attracts the right type of people to their post because obviously they need people to physically cross over the threshold of their business. So by using things like be Bradford, Bradford University, at Bradford, Bradford College, it's all the ones that anybody around that area are going to be following. Therefore, they are local. Therefore, if they're local, they're looking for somewhere to eat, then this is the perfect place for them. And by tagging in that they're in the city of Bradford, again, it does exactly the same thing. It just makes sure that they're coming up in more localized content. Any business should be using local hashtags in their social posts to make sure that they reach the right audience on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If I was these guys, I'd also want to look at other hashtags that I could use and other ones that work that are maybe. Which is quite good for Instagram, less so for Facebook. But I would go to my. Maybe I would go to Engagement and recommended. And what this does is it looks at all of the hashtags that have been coming up in content across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and ones that are recommended directly from maybe itself. And it brings them all up for you. And what you can do is you can look at these and go, right, okay, yeah, okay. Small businesses unite. That might be a bit of me. And then you can simply either look at the hashtags themselves on each one to decide if it's interesting for you, or you can click here and you can add it to your conversation, which means that you can start listening to the hashtag and you can start engaging in the content. If you've got any other questions, please just click on the little blue button here. We love to help.
