How writing a strong caption can drive engagement

Polly Barnfield shows how a strong caption drives Instagram engagement using a Timber Development UK storage building post as an example. She walks through the Navy Dashboard to find top-performing content, compare competitors, and use AI to generate post ideas and schedule them automatically.

Today we're looking at how writing a strong caption can be everything on social media. This is Timber Development UK and they design timber and they use Instagram very much as a kind of showcase of the different projects that their timber could be used for all around the uk. And this is something that's really interesting. So here they have join us for the penultimate webinar. So they're talking about their webinars in the design timber 2023 series and then they're talking about hearing from multi disciplinary team behind the UK hardwoods storage building, shortlisted for the Commercial Leisure Award, etc. So basically what this is is them talking about and they're doing a series of webinars and it's from inside the UK Hardwoods Storage building. So the main building, which obviously stores all the wood and as you can see, created from that timber. And they've used a little carousel here to show you how amazing and the building looks. And this sort of expanse, I guess, of, you know, how big it is and how incredible it looks. They have used an image at the beginning of it that says what time it is, what data is and said what it is. And then you can see they've gone into loads and loads of detail here on what it's all about. So about this event, commissioned X when Y and then you've got the speakers again. If they were on Instagram, I would 100% tag them in so that they knew and then they've got the call to action here. So register in the link in the bio. So this for me is about writing a really strong caption to back up the image in the carousel. So the stronger the caption, the more that people are going to be likely to take a call to action and do something that you want them to do off the back of it. Now I was these guys. One thing that I would want to do is I would want to make sure that I was creating posts that my, I guess my followers would be really in interested in. The best ways of finding out what type of post it would be is by going on to the Navy Dashboard, because here on the left you would see your best post. So it would be the best post that you've done over the last week. And if you keep seeing that, I don't know, it's an Instagram post and it's a. I don't know about your blog, then you would start to generate more of that. And you could also compare that to any competitor. So you can look at any other sort of timber company and look at what they're doing and then look at getting some inspiration and seeing what works. However, what they could then do is they can use the AI technology that's built into the dashboard and they could say, I don't know, I want to create a series of posts about the benefits of buying UK timber. And they literally click in there and they can go straight through to their content calendar. The AI generates the post for them and it means that it just takes their time away from sitting coming up with ideas for posts and actually gets them doing the really important stuff which is actually engaging. So once they've done created their selection of posts, they can switch them, edit them and then they can turn it into a series of posts and then they can start engaging with their potential clients. Now, as always, if you've got any questions at all, click on the little blue button. We'd love to help.
