In this instructional video, the presenter explains how brands can boost product visibility by tying their marketing to internationally recognized days, using Metro Bank’s International Dog Day campaign as a concrete example. The speaker highlights that pet‑related content naturally generates higher engagement because audiences love animals, and demonstrates how Metro Bank created a cute, shareable reel featuring a dog that subtly promotes their pet‑insurance offering without a hard sell. The talk then walks through a practical hashtag strategy: monitoring the official International Dog Day hashtag along with related tags (e.g., #DogDay, #NationalDogDay, #UKDogDay) by creating a hashtag group in the platform’s “engage” feature, allowing the brand to discover and interact with relevant posts, influencers, and large dog accounts. By consistently engaging with these communities, brands can increase reach, foster authentic connections, and drive traffic to their products. The video concludes with a call‑to‑action inviting viewers to click a help button for further assistance.

Today we're looking at how you can promote your product by using International Days. Metrobank are worldwide and known by the majority of people. However they state on their feed that they occasionally like to feature dogs and when you look at their feed there is quite a lot of dog related content which is clearly a love of whoever runs their social account. However, what I love about this is that they understand that pet content generally gets better engagement than not pet related content because basically people love animals. So by doing this reel of a dog using their bank on an International Dog Day, they're linking up with a national campaign which is here internationaldogday, which lots and lots of people around the country will have been using. In fact around the world really been using because it's international and engaging with. They will have created fun shadable content that people enjoy and find super cute and they also show off their bank without actually selling it directly. Let's take a little look.
Insurance reward self with walkies International Dog Day to do list. Go into Metro bank for free treats. Make sure I'm covered with every popette. Insurance Reward self with walkies.
So there they're talking about International Dog Day. They're using it as a hook to relate back to their bank. They're saying that you can go in with dogs, get free treats. They're saying that they do pet insurance and so they're relating it directly back but everyone's just focused on the super cute little dog. So it's such a really cool way of using an international hashtag or an international campaign to then bring it back to talking about you. And of course they're promoting the pet insurance that they do. So it's a really good way of hooking people in using a campaign. And so really what you need to do is just have a think about what your customers are into. If it's cats, dogs, children's schools, whatever it might be, just make sure that that's what you on and, and ensure that I guess that you have content that directly relates back to that because people absolutely love it, which is amazing. Now on that. So International Dog Day has its own hashtag. So if I was them, I'd be wanting to make sure that I'm following that hashtag but also maybe other dog related hashtags if that's something that they do quite a lot of. So if you go into the, if you go into the maybe platform and go into engage, you go into group, you can add in any hashtag. So you might put an International Dog Day here or it might be or it might be something like Dog Day, or it might be National Dog Day or UK Dog Day, whatever it might be. And you can add them all in here. And then under this section, you can create a group, and then you can engage with as many of those hashtags as you like. But when you click on them, it would come up like this. And then all of the content for the. For those. Anyone using those hashtags will come up there. And so it might be that, you know, the Metro bank can start engaging with influencers that way, or, you know, big dog accounts, things like that. So, basically, anyone that loves dogs, but it is a really good way of you being able to, I guess, engage with the right hashtags to boost your feeds.
